Call them before you overdraft your account and let them know you intend to go over a little. Just explain how you don't have enough money but have to buy more things. They will try to talk you into taking out a loan but don't bother. They charge you money for that. Just ask if they can pay your checks and not charge an overdraft fee. What's a small loan between friends anyway. And don't worry about that little problem with trying to get in touch with someone for about a week. You see, when you call them ahead of time they always answer their phones, or even better, when you go into the bank, they are at their desks(not always true after an overdraft). Also when overdrafting and contacting the bank in advance, always let them know that you have funds to cover the overdraft. Tell them you have some money in another account that could be transfered over but don't let them do it without your permission. They will try and tell you that they can do it without your permission because you owe them money and that the terms of the account state that the bank has a right to offset an outstanding debt on one of your accounts with money from another account. But don't worry, "terms of the account" or "right to offset" who ever heard of such things. Blah Blah Blah.... disclosures. And tell them that you have some cash in your pocket but just can't make it to the bank right now and that you can deposit it later(in a few days). This will make them more comfortable. Also let the banker know that you can get the money advanced to you at any time, this helps too. The other thing is communication, the good thing about calling them when your going to overdraft is that your not waiting for them to call you(it takes a week to talk to a human, I can't imgine how long for a real person). That's it. That's all you need to do to get free overdrafts with no fees.
