Barton's Construction Company Barton, Charles Ward Jr (Chuck) #648868 overcharges for low quality construction work, takes financial adventage of ealderly single women Carmel, California
Barton, Charles Ward Jr (Chuck)as a general contractor is
dragging down in disgrace the good name of our local contractors -while our locals
took him in 1yr ago with his family after he lost his livelehood somewhere
in Ca).He is very persuasive,promising the best
deals, conveniently forgotten during the project/remodeling. He doesnt keep his promise to stick to the budget, refuses to sign the Contract with
the client and cleverly avoids to give the client the estimate
of the costs in writing (I received very high Estimate of costs 1, 5 month later, after he left me with unfinished remodeling.) He is very difficult to communicate with, determined to keep to
himself HOW MUCH he is charging: by the
hour? or by the project? -it won't be worth much because of his low work ethics (unexplained delays and absences from the construction side); as a contractor supervising his crew (radomly selected) shows total luck of organizational skills, cannot handle multitasking projects. He is totally ignoring the Clients pleas, the notes, printouts, and eventually the design; he might not be very literate (hard to believe in case of
this grown man with the License), but he is very skilled in persuading the ealderly lonely Clients to trust him on
the verbal agreement, exorting full payment before the finishing line (in my case- unfinished sloppy job, projects done without permits & broken furnace);very eager to bill his Client
at least every 10 days; his specialty-the bills for the unauthorized (surprising)purchases
of building material (he show only the numbers, gives the lecture about the pipes and wires, avoiding sharing with the Client even the copies of those receipts, no explanation in writing -he might be billing the other clients also with the same
bills. Low quality workmanship, greed,arogance, luck of responsiblities and no respond for 2 months made me report him to BBB and to the Board of Certified Contractors; we need to protect our ealderly from such a rippoof artist;he should not be alowed to work in our beautiful Monterey Peninsula. Warning to all of ealderly lonely potential clients out there- I cannot believe it, but it did happen to me, it could happen to you too. see the pictures .
