I am Posting this for an elderly lady friend of mine who is not computer literate. I will be posting this all over the internet until something is done. How dare you take advantage of an old lady! You guys need to make this right! I will also be filing a report with the FTC and the state attorneys office.

I went in to trade in my 2018 Equinox premiere diesel for a different car. They offered a 2019 Buick Encore and $2000.00 back to me. As I signed the computer screen I noticed it said 1 pay lease. I was not familiar with that term. I question what that meant. Do I owe any more? Do I own the car? I was assured I didnt owe anything. I asked about having the title sent to me up in Illinois where I live and Mike Flanders assured me they would. After a slip and fall accident in December I had trouble getting in and out of the little car so I traded it in on a 2020 Equinox and paid $18985.00 additional to get the car.
In February the dealer up north became aware that I in fact did not own the Encore and demanded I return it. They have charged me $15,000.00 of that money for returning the vehicle and I am out of pocket $1500.00 for transport to return that car. I'm a senior on a fixed income and dont have money to replace the "lease"vehicle when the 3 years are up. I feel like I was taken advantage of my salesman Travis Daniel admitted that he was also surprised it became a lease as that was never discussed by us we both thought it was a straight up trade and a small amount of pocket cash. This was admitted in the company of a dear friend. But now Travis will not give me a letter stating this was Not what we discussed. "

I live up north and traded the Beck car for a larger one after a fall on the ice. I was only able to pay because of a fire loss at my home ,where and how I live is not the issue . The issue is they took advantage ,not my living arrangements

Perhaps you should let your not so computer literate Eldery Friend post on her own, she seems a lot more capabible than you gave her credit for.
Her finances are really NONE of your affair or if she wants a new car every year.
- The only reason her fianances were mentioned because you(her?) posted that she was on a "Fixed Income". You are right, there is nothing wrong with buying a car every year if you can afford it. I actually commend her for being able to do that and maintain two residences. But then you don't turn around and play the "Fixed Income" card to try and gain some sympathy. Yes, regardles of what you say the ONLY reason that it was mentioned was to gain sympathy.
Oh and contrary to your inference, I am not associated with this dealer(or any dealer for that matter). I like you am just a member of the public.
But all of that not withstanding, perhaps your friend will post some additional details. Such as what happened with the 2nd car? If the 2nd car was bought in Florida, why would she need to return it up north to that dealer? Wouldn't you have traded that one in at the time for the 3rd car? If this second car wasn't used in a trade why would it matter to them if you owned it or not? Or did you trade in the 2nd car and the dealer was asking for a return on the 3rd car? If so then where is the 2nd car? As that would have likely cancelled the deal and they would owe you the 2nd car back.
You also never answered what happened the 8 months between the time you bought the 2nd car and the 3rd car. They said you didn't owe any more, so were you making monthly payments? You asked them to transfer the title to IL, so did they?

The bottom line is you took her for 15,000 plus a vehicle she traded in, and put her in a 3 year LEASE, but led her to believe she was BUYING the car. She had to pay someone to take the vehicle back up north. There was no paper work, Everything was done on a computer. Like I said, we have already filed a complaint with the FTC and the state attorneys office. I suggest you make things right and give her her money back or a vehicle that she OWNS!

My 2018 was fully paid off ,the trade was because of cost to maintain ,the other car.the money up north was as stated to get into a bigger car. I don't know why it took so long for them to catch the mistake. And I'm not asking for sympathy that I'm on a fixed income it's the facts when your as old as I am.I'm only asking for justice.

Your "Eldery Friend" seemed to have left a few things out of her report.
Was her 2018 car financed, leased, or did she own it outright?
What happened between April of 2019 and December? Were they requiring payments? Did they send her the title?
How exactly did she end up paying an extra almost 19K on the 2020, and why didn't that seem to phase her? Probably a bigger question is where did she buy this car and where did this dealer in the "North" come into play? Why did it seem to take this Northern Dealer about 2 months to determine that she didn't own the car?
In normal circumstances how is she getting these cars from the "North" to Florida and back?
As for her being on a "Fixed Income", that is being used 100% to try a gain some sympathy. As she apparently is well enough off to be able to buy 3 new cars in the last 3 years. As she originally traded in a 2018 for a 2019, then traded that one for a 2020. Then she is able to either afford a lot of trips to Florida, or is able to maintain two residences. This doesn't exactly put her on the bread line, when there are other people on a "Fixed Income" who have to make a choice between heat and food and have the same car they had in the 1990's.
