I am not employed by this dental office or have any interest in their practice. I have over 30 years experience in the dental field. I would like to ask first of all...How long ago did you have a dental cleaning? There are two factors why your "dental cleaning: took two visits. First, it could have been a very long time in between dental cleanings and therefore alot of plaque would have accumulated. Its very difficult to remove plaque/tartar, floss, periodontal exam, cancer exam, xrays in 45 to 60 minute appointments. Hence the return visit. The other factor would be Periodontal. A patient with periodontal (gum) disease is not a candidate for a regular cleaning. A cleaning (prophylaxis) is considered preventable treatment, a periodontal cleaning in therapeutic. A huge difference. I believe your situation was the first scenario. Its probably been a long time since you had your teeth scaled and therefore impossible to complete within the scope of one appopintment. Please consider these probabilites when you discuss your dental treatment with this office. I am sure they are doing there very best to give you the best treatment possible. Would you rather they leave your mouth half done?
