This guy calls me from an ad I posted on craigslist's resume section asking for a new job, something challenging, etc. He says he's some bigtime real estate investor. He wants to make me an 'equity partner' and send me a contract saying there is 'no risk' to me. I declined the offer, but am still talking to him to see what else I can find out about him.
He said he would fund me in any business I wanted to start up. He would front me the money and expenses to get the business off the ground. In my case, I told him I wanted to build tiny house communities around the country and manage them. He said 'ok' to whatever I wanted. I found out that he had no fixed address, worked out of 'Whataburger' restaurants, seemed to be working as a security guard, claimed to know real estate moguls in Dallas, and was quite a smooth talker in the beginning but didn't ever want me to email him, see him in person, or know much about him. The red flags were endless.
I hope he gets caught before he scams 100's of people. He claims to be in Oklahoma City as of 5/8/2018 but who knows. He could be anywhere. He says he deals only in text messages and faxes but I have no fax machine or text on my phone. When I asked him what he looked like, he said "I'm 5'11"" but he gave no further description except to say that he was 59 years old. He smokes and has a raspy, deep voice of a smoker. He has a tiny verbal 'tic' by saying 'huh' between sentences. He gets angry any time you mention calling a lawyer or checking his identity online.
