Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In November of 2007 my wife bought me a Rolex that I have been asking for for years, she had been telling me that they are too expensive and that she could buy a car for what they cost. Finally she broke down and bought me one for Christmas. When I first got it I was so happy that I didn't want to take it off, but during the first night when my alarm went of I immediately looked at my watch to see the time. I couldn't see it because the illumination strips didn't work. So I proceeded to get up and turn the light on and everything else was fine, therefore I just thought because it had been in the winding case for a month that there wasn't enough strength to hold the light.

The next day I read all of the warranty information numerous times to make sure I understood exactly what I needed to do to maintain the warranty. It said to bring it in every three months for inspection or the warranty would be void. I made sure that I brought it in three months after she purchased it and not after I recieved it. In Febuary, I brought it in and the store manager said oh it was not suppose to illuminate, then I said what are the strips on the dial for? He said Oh well I guess it should glow but it could take up to six months of continuous light to to strengthen the cell enough for illumination, I laughed and said yeah right maybe I'll take it over to another store and get there opinion, he then said that if they tamper with it, unless they are a certified Rolex dealer then your warranty will be void. I then said that your store isn't even a certfied rolex dealer and he walked away to another customer who was starting to listen to our conversation.

I took the watch back in today to have it inspected, and spoke with the so called sales manager and he said that the illumination bars should be working but if they are not then so be it, because they only warranty the working parts of a Rolex, and that If if I wanted a perfect rolex then I shouldn't have bought a pre-owned one, because that is cosmetic problem. I explained to him that the illumination bars are located on the inside of the watch and that if they aren't working it must be a mechanical issue not a cosmetic issue. I then said that's fine I'll take this up with your corporate compliance department and if I could just have my slip that shows I once again came in for my required inspection then I would be on my way. He said that there wasn't anythig he could give me. I told him that last time I came in that the other store manager gave me an inspection only sheet and he said that he shouldn't have.

I am just appauled that after paying that type of money for a timepiece that they would treat you like an idiot because you tried to save some money. I will truly never buy anything else from that jewelery store and this experience has left the Rolex corporation with a bad taste in my mouth.
