In the first week of August '04, it was my intent to purchase a 55" television from Besy Buy to fit into a niche in my newly constructed home. Upon entering the store, it was well over 20 minutes before a TV/Electronics associate could be found (this is not the first time this has occurred at this store). Even after contact with an associate, he could not 'assist' us and left to find another associate to help (another 10 minute wait).

The associate that helped us was rather disinterested and was slovenly dressed, even though he was wearing the standard Best Buy blue polo.

Along with this purchase, a 100.0USD gift card was part of the 'deal'. The store could not deliver for ONE WEEK from date of purchase (even though the delivery was in-town) and it was still delivered FOUR DAYS LATE. When the television arrived, it was wrapped in bubble wrap, and was in the rear of AN ASSOCIATE'S PERSONAL PICKUP TRUCK. The remote AND the owners manual were missing. We had even purchased a 249.00USD 4yr extended in-home warranty on the unit.

When I called the store manager to declare my dissatifaction, he indicated that he would allow us to purchase a chest freezer at STORE COST that we had been looking at. When we came to the store to pick up and purchase (at store cost mind you) the freezer, he indicated that he could not honor his previous statement, and we purchased the freezer at a 9% discount (before taxes). Thus, I was lied to, no matter how you look at it. The 9% amounted to 18.71USD, fyi.

I firmly suggest that anyone, ANYONE, looking to purchase ANYTHING and ANY Best Buy store nationwide utilize another, more reputable local business. I have also had problems with stores located in the Minneapolis, MN area.

As a final note, I still have not received by 100.00USD gift card/rebate after 2 requests via FAX AND US MAIL, and do not expect to receive it, and if I do receive the rebate, it will be given to a local charity as I refuse to spend my wages at what I like to call 'Worst Purchase' (i.e. Best Buy).
