Big Commerce seems to have everything for those wishing to open up an online store.  They have various templates to choose from, optional apps (as an add-on), integrated mail system (although they don't host any email programs and you have to find a third party email program), integration into eBay, Google Shopping, etc.  Their support techs have always been friendly although they don't provide support for their system and if you have problems or want to improve something you will have to search through a plethora of information and try to figure it out yourself or hire someone. 

We have had our site with Big Commerce from the end of 2012 to now, nearly September of 2014.  Previously, we had an old, antiquated FrontPage website for more than 10 years which did very well with. 

Since going with Big Commerce, we have LOST OVER 90% IN SALES!  Ninety-percent!!!  We have gone from nearly an 8 figure (yes, 8) sales income to a measly $50,000.00.

We have continually, over this 2 year period told Big Commerce about the trouble.  We've hired people to look at the site, spent thousands of hours to improve it and still - the sales have dropped DRAMATICALLY!!

A week ago we got a popup message from Big Commerce stating that THEY HAD ERRORS WITH THEIR SHOPPING CART SYSTEM AND GOOGLE - THE KING OF SEARCH ENGINES - WASN'T CRAWLING PAST THE FIRST CATEGORY STRUCTURE!!!

I absolutely COULD NOT BELIEVE IT!!  What's supposed to be a top-of-the-line shopping cart company and included in Inc's top 5000 companies (along with favor from Entrepreneur, Forbes, Fortune Inside, Bloomberg and others) and they don't EVEN HAVE THEIR SHOPPING CART SYSTEM DESIGNED SO GOOGLE WILL CRAWL PAST THE FIRST CATEGORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This is a $4 BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY!!!

I cannot begin to tell you how upset we are with them.  We have LOST 90% OF OUR SALES FROM GOING TO BIG COMMERCE.  EVERYTHING WE WORKED HARD FOR.  ALL THE TALK AND HYPE ABOUT HOW GREAT THEY ARE IS ALL A BUNCH OF GARBAGE!

They have a software that brings customers in, charges them a heft price, DOESN'T include email with their program because they want to cut expenses and then they DON'T HAVE TOP TECHNICIANS TO DESIGN THE ENTIRE PROGRAM which leaves out SUPER CRITICAL PARTS LIKE THE ABILITY FOR GOOGLE TO CRAWL PAST THE FIRST CATEGORIES!!!  Well, our whole website is beyond the first category to make it more customer friendly with nearly 2,000 products we had!!!!  So, BIG COMMERCE TOTALLY FAILED THE TOP SEARCH ENGINE IN THE WORLD WITH THEIR SHOPPING CART SYSTEM.

WE HAVE SINCE ASKED FOR A REFUND FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS.  EVEN IF THAT IS PROVIDED, THAT DOESN'T REMOTELY COME CLOSE TO WHAT WE'VE LOST IN SALES AND OUR OVERALL BUSINESS. 

I think it's a crime for Big Commerce to have done what they did.  They were continually told there was a problem and they did nothing about it for at least 2 years.  I wonder - just how many complaints did they have before they took action and - will that even fix it?

If you have a business, I would definitely recommend going elsewhere and not with Big Commerce.   God only knows what other problems they have that aren't fixed that will drag your business into obliteration.
