Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

The company initially masks their number to be local to you so that you'd better answer it. For example, my cell phone is from Las Vegas (702), so they mask their numbers to a 702 number. The first call is a 3 question servey about alternative energy sources (hot button topic, most people have passion one way or the other). Then it asks if you want to be called in the next 24-48 hours for a free cruise. I hung up. They called anyway.

I got another call from another 702 number about 5 hours later, from someone saying that they were only a 3rd party and would connect me to a travel agent for the free cruise. They asked if I was okay with a recorded phone conversation and wanted me to say YES on recording. Then transfered to a "travel agent". The guy pushed HARD for the $118 dollars by credit card to secure our spot. They also said that to be fair, they can only call people once for the offer, so I either locked in a spot now, or it would be gone forever. Through research, these guys are associated with a Carribean Cruise scam from years ago, new ship, changing names as people become privy to the scam itself cruiselawnews.com/2015/01/articles/fraud/caribbean-cruise-line-scam/

I was pretty decent in saying that I didnt trust it and didn't find anything online that supported them, and the agent began to belittle me. I thought it was one of those indian scammers with the irs, or microsoft, that try to get your credit card, and I like messing with them, so thats the only reason I answered. He kept pushing, but I had to hang up. Dont fall for these, free is not "free".

Port Taxes not a real request

What is the address of your company?  I want to pay my port taxes with a check or money order.

Nope.  Can't do it.  We only have one room left for your state (California) and it will be gone once you hang up.

I asked and received this response from the agent handling me.  She went on to say: "Look mister, I don't want to lose my job.  If you can't give me your credit card number then you can't get registered".

I told her that I was worried about fraud, and that I don't like to give out credit or debit card information over the phone to strangers.   She went on to say "The Consumer Protection Act covers you for any fraud or misuse of your credit card information".  Pretty knowledgable, I'd say!  Most customer service agents are THAT ready to explain why credit cards are ok to use on the phone!

So.  $118 may not be a lot.  But something tells me there's more to this weird transaction than "port taxes".

BTW: Palm Beach Florida has a 6% sales tax.  Why isn't this crew requesting THAT tax?

How is 118 dollars in port taxes make it a scam?

#3UPDATE Employee ..inside information

Hello, I work for this company and I have for over 3 years. In that time I have sold countless cruises and I've blown this "rip of report" out of the water. Yes the cruise is free, but under strict guidelines we as a company are not able to wave or pay the 59 dollar in port taxes for you. Look up any cruise line and you will see they charge port taxes too. How is charging port taxes a scam? If you don't want the cruise that's on you don't take it, but in all the years for working for this company I have learned something about some of the customers. The customers that b***h in complain and make accusations and post it online are the customers that are mad because your flat broke and can't afford the 118. I've sold this and other promotions to coutless people, So if your a customer on the phone with a rep selling you this, ask for an email or use another phone while your talking to the rep and call the number that called you. When someone picks up give them that employees ID number and you'll be transferred to them. But get the definition of a scam right,a scam is something you pay for that you don't get. You pay 118 dollars you get everything your told on that call. You still don't believe we are real? Go to YouTube and search "the grand celibration" or www.mybahamacruise.com or www.bluestarcruise.com or www.cruisecritic.com and search "the grand celibration" have a great day and welcome aboard!

32 Years old and 25 cruises under your belt? Holy cow! You must spend your life on the water and have more money than God for those kind of stats! ;)

I just got a call from them, same MO. Thought it was ironic they were calling on the anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. Here's the thing...if you're on the up and up you have 1. A website that books cruises 2. Your own phone number, not a local call bank generated one and 3. You have a website that books cruises. Yes I said it twice. My advice, politely decline and hang up. You'll save yourself 20 minutes of wasted time.

I recently was contacted as well and actually went on this cruise. Now no its not free, you have to pay port taxes and fees or something it's 59 bucks per person so it came out to 118.00, but that's pretty freaking close. I'm writing to let others who are reading know that I actually went on this cruise and it was pretty fun. I'm a young 32 year old experience cruiser with over 25 cruises under my belt so when I initially decided to do this trip I thought, or boy, a bootleg cruise, but it was actually very fun. So not a rip off at all. They even have reviews on cruise critic for u to read. Sorry to the writer that he thought it was a scam, but it's actually real and I hate you lost out on it. Just wanted to give my experience. FYI I am not affiliated with any cruise line cruise service vacation service etc. Just a girl that loves to travel.
