Boomerang Tech Solutions LLC Fraud and Tech Support Scam Vernon Hills Illinois
I needed help with a malware/adware problem and as I had a paid subscription to Malwarebytes Primium I googled Malwarebytes Customer Service. One of the links came back as http://www.antivirustechnicalhelp.com/malwarebytes.html under the Google title "Malwarebytes Customer Service Phone Number 1-800-644-5716".
Believing that I was contacting Malwarbytes I called them. I explained my problem and they referred me to another number 800-323-9330 which I eventually found out was Boomerange Tech Solutions (BTS). Both phone numbers were for BTS. I thought I was dealing with a Malwarbytes related company when in fact the website and phone number were both for BTS. I have since learned that BTS has absolutely nothing to do with the real Malwarbytes company nor does the googled link above. When I finally contacted the actual Malwarbytes company they told me that "this sounds like a Technical Support Scam". I believe them. In my opinion, the use of the name "Malwarebytes Customer Service" is blatantly and intentionally fraudulent.
Believing that I was dealing with an actual Malwarebytes affiliated comppany I explained my problem and they said they could resolve it if I did a one year subscription with them for technical support for $199.99. I was desperate to fix the malware/adware problem which had gone on for several days, so I agreed. Big mistake. They logged onto my computer and fiddled around on it for about a hour or so with great graphics and finally said that the problem was fixed and I should authorize the payment. I was happy and I paid. My mistake again(especially for not waiting a while to see if the problem was actually fixed). But within 15 minutes of hanging up with them the problem re-appeared and continued to re-appear every 30 minutes. I emailed the company letting them know that the problem wasn't fixed and they never responded. Finally I did what I should have done in the first place and googled my issue. After a fair amount of research, I came upon a solution which I implemented. BTS had absolutely nothing to do with the solution to my problem. I did the research and I resolved it by myself. But, of course, they wouldn't refund my money even though they did nothing to fix the problem. In my opinion, and based on my experience, I believe that Boomerang Tech Solutions is a fraud and a giant scam. Caveat emptor! Always read the full document carefully before authorizing payment. Very carefully!
The real Malwarebytes company was very sympathetic but there was actually nothing they could do. Their representative wrote: "The money you paid to that company, unfortunately, is not on our hands to recover. However, I would really appreciate if you have any information about the fake Malwarebytes number you called so I can report this number. Any other information that you wish to send me to stop this kinds of frauds would be of great help. (I sent the info to them). If you are unsure about the support that you are contacting, always contact us before to [email protected] to make sure is not a fraud."
