Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I recently moved to Los Angeles, CA from Washington state and my car still has Washington plates. I have reason to believe that Bruffy's Tow in Marina Del Rey, CA is a crooked company running a scam on out of state people because Bruffy's believes they are visitors to the beach and won't be here long enough to protest.

Twice in the last week my car has been towed by this company from street parking that is usually legal. Both times I was cited for having parked in a temporary tow zone on an ordinary city street. The first time, it was my fault. There was some sort of a marathon and they temporarily banned parking.

The second tow by Bruffy's Marina Del Rey Tow came today. I had parked my car legally on Main street in Venice, CA at 10 pm at night. Because I had just been towed a couple days before I very carefully looked around. No signs, no cones, perfectly legal spot. I walked home and went to bed.

Tonight I cheerfully walked out to get my car to go to dinner with Levi when I arrived at my spot on Main St. and it was empty. There were two cones on either side of where I had parked and a sign that said no parking from 7am to 10 pm. Neither the signs nor the cones were there last night at 10 pm. By law, tow companies/parking enforcement officers are required to give at least 24 hours notice for a temporary tow zone.

Either someone forgot to put up the signs like they were supposed to at least 24 hours in advance and towed me anyways or Bruffy's Marina Del Rey Tow company has set up a scam to take advantage of tourists.

I recommend Los Angeles thoroughly investigate Bruffy's towing and the Santa Monica police department for potential conflict of interest and underhanded dealings. I would remove Bruffy's Marina Del Rey Tow license to operate a towing company in the meantime.

When I filed my initial Ripoff Report, I made a mistake in targeting Bruffy's Tow when they had not done anything wrong.  The City of Los Angeles is actually the target of my Ripoff Report.  Their parking enforcement officers should not have ticketed my car & marked it for towing under the city rules, but did anyways.  The car had to be towed by the tow truck driver and he was not at fault.
