After contacting every agency i could think of i finally received a letter from the BBB stating that CAMCO can not provide proof of the debt (because there is none) and that they have ceased all collection activity and will not sell the "debt". This took 8 months, but it was worth every minute I also received an email from a local news station asking if I would be willing to share my story and possibly go on camera....I told them sure thing and am waiting to hear back...CAMCO can be dealt with if everyone who has the misfortune of being contacted by them pursues it with zeal...Good luck everyone!

Vanessa, Trans Union also sent SCAMCO a copy of my credit report and gave me the same story when I confronted them with it. The reason why SCAMCO likes Trans Union is that Trans Union shows the FULL account numbers of all your other accounts whereas Experian only shows part of the account numbers. I asked Trans Union about this and they just said that thier computer system won't let them just display part of your other account numbers.

I would look at the name and commission of the notary stamp on that notarized letter you received and then contact the IL Secretary of State Jesse White at 111 E Monroe, Springfield, IL 62756or call them at 217-782-7017 and let the Secretary of State know that you received a deceptive invalid letter that is notarized by someone with an IL commission... That is illegal.

I rec'd a credit report today from Trans Union, one of the BIG 3...I see that they are the ones who supplied CAMCO with my credit report and personal information.....Spoke w/ a representative and said if a company asks for a copy of someones credit report for "legitimate" reasons, then they are supplied with one....Talk about a violation of privacy! Something should be done about this....perhaps if others have found that Trans Union is the one who provided info to CAMcO you can update and we can nail them too.....

Just wanted to update that I reported CAMCO to the FTC, BBB, Rockford Mayor, and the Illinois Attorney Generals office. I have not heard anything from any of these entities thus far. However, CAMCO did grace me with a response. A notarized "document" from Michael V Seng stating that they own the (10+ year old) "debt" and that they now have the "complete authority to settle, adjust, compromise and satisfy the same....". WHATEVER! The amount on this worthless peice of paper is 358.55 vs. the original letter demanding 659.87. Also, there is no mention of my request to their company for verification and documentation, nor a response to my dispute of the debt. SCAM! Just becuase they bought an uncollectable "debt" does not mean that you have to pay it. There is a statute of limitations for collection on a debt, in California the maximum is 4 years. I hope that something will be done to shut this company down...
