Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am elderly and on Social Security. I don't have a dime to spare. Some of us on Social Security are well below the poverty level. A rip off like this is a financial devastation.

I received a letter in the mail stating I was already approved for a $6,000 credit limit. I called the phone number included, listened to their speel, asked questions, (with vague responses) and figured I would have time to change my mind later. At that time I thought the card was like any other and could be used for charging at most stores, etc. It was not! They said you would have to buy items from their catalog, but it had everything you could buy at stores. The catalog does not exist!

The way I understood it, they would withdraw a $249.99 activation fee from my checking account and I would receive my card shortly after. The interest and other fees were so low I thought it might equal out.

I set a future date for the withdrawal in order for me to have time to think it over. I decided the fee was too high and about how long it would take me to pay it off. I didn't need that much credit either, so I called them back and canceled. I thought that would be the end of it.

A week later I received the credit card in the mail. I called the number on the card to ask why. By the time they were finished with me, I had given them my SS# and my checking account #. My credit limit had been increased to $8,500, which is more than my yearly income,

probably because I was not totally convinced. The $249.99 was not to be withdrawn from my account until a month later, so I figured I had plenty of time to think it over.

After I got off the phone I had a sense of fear flash through me. I got onto the web and brought up their company name. The first thing I saw was a splash of red with the words RIP OFF along with their name. All of a sudden I knew what their game was. It didn't matter about when I had agreed for them to withdraw the money. It could be withdrawn at any time whether the funds were there or not, and I would be charged for an overdraft fee from the bank along with the money they had cheated me out of and there was no such company or products!

I emediately contacted my bank. I was told I could pay for a stop pay or close my account and open a new one. But I couldn't afford the stop pay and certainly didn't want to change an account I had had for many years. After I explained the situation they were kind enough to wave the stop pay fee. It took only minutes to contact the bank, but if I had not I'm sure funds probably would have been withdrawn in a matter of hours.

I was not really vicitimized, but my main object is to try to prevent others from becoming victims!!

The bank doesn't to seem excited about this fraud. I was told, "We have so much of this going on we don't do anything about it." But they did file a report.
