Capital One has accessed my husbands credit report twice in July 2000. this has contributed to lowering his credit rating. We had to file Chapter 13 in 1997. Capital one was one of the creditors. Now we think they may be trying to sabotage us rebuilding our credit.

Credit Report Access

If you still have an open account with Capital One, they have a right to be accessing your credit report every 6 months (On Equifax reports, these are listed as AM or AR reports). If you don't still have an account with them, call the customer service number and tell them to stop. If you DON'T still have an open account, and they're accessing your credit report just to see if they want to send you offers (on Equifax reports, this is listed as PRM), you can stop that by calling 888-567-8688. When you call this number, you can tell all three credit bureaus that you don't want ANY COMPANY that you don't have an account with accessing your credit report without your permission. Hope this helps. Ginny
