Capital Vacations ripoff took my money and never even sent information Treasure Island Florida
Okay so I'm sitting at home and I get a call from someone who says he's from Capital Vacations and is going to send me an airline ticket voucher worth $600 if I sign up for this vacation plan thing. Since my fiance and I will be flying out to Hawaii from Michigan for her brother's graduation ceremony this summer, I figure it's worth the risk and hey, I can cancel at any time!
Well, I never got the stuff they were supposed to send me, so I figured there was some glitch in their system or something and I never got put in. Then these $20 charges start showing up in my checking account. It wasn't until a month afterward that I realized where they were coming from.
So I called the 888 number they gave me when I signed up and got a pre-recorded message saying my phone number was on file. They gave an option in the menu to cancel my account (which, I admit, seemed a bit too good to be true) and said that all charges given within the past 45 days would be credited back to my account within 7-10 business days.
Cool, right? Nope. The 7-10 business days have come and gone and I'm still down 40 bucks. There doesn't appear to be any way to speak with someone on the phone there and now I'm going to have to do things the hard way by going down to the bank and filing a dispute form. Fortunately I work with a really good local bank that I'm sure will take care of me, but it's still rather frustrating in the meantime. It's a shame I didn't discover this website until after the fact.
