It sounds like you purchased Carnival's early saver rate, in which you do not get refunded 100% of your deposit. This happens time and time again with this cruise line. You should always be skeptical of the cheapest cruise line available. There is a reason why they are so cheap.

If she won't be more than 24 weeks pregnant they can still take this cruise. You didn't state when the cruise is. Sounds like it is soon if you paid for it in full.

Are you saying they might have the baby DURING the "honeymoon"? I'll have to look up the NEW meaning for the word "honeymoon". Bad cruise line. Bad cruise line.

Hmmm. I suspected with the replies that were given, which I agree with 100%, that she would be royally PO'd and would come back and say something. Where'd she go?? Was hoping this thread would get interesting ;)

Why can't they have a honeymoon? They could always just go on the cruise that has been paid for already. It is obvious you made an 'impulse buy' on the cruise tickets, buying the cheapest/nonrefundable tickets available, and are now having 'buyer's remorse' and are disappointed that you can't get a refund. That is your fault, not Carnival's. As for your assertation that your son "can't afford" anything, you have lost all my sympathy when you stated that they were trying (successfully) to have a baby. Perhaps some priorities need to be put in order here.

"My son and his beautiful soon to be wife cant even have a honeymoon" - Seems like the need for a Honeymoon may have already "sailed". I thought people got married before they "tried" to have a baby. Now seriously.. If you reviewed the Cancellation Policy for the tickets you purchased and you did cancel within the guidelines to get a refund. Then yes you should be entitled to a refund. However, if the ticket was a Non-Refundable ticket or your cruise was so close that you can't cancel then you are probably stuck with the tickets. Perhaps you could talk to them and see if you can use the amount paid as a credit toward another cruise after the baby(when they probably will need it). While not a good situation, your son and daughter-in-law loosing their job has nothing to do with this on two points. First it is your contention that you cancelled within 24 hours so they should have refunded your money(again read the cancellation policy). So loosing their job at a later time does not matter to your claim. Second, unless you had Travel Insurance(which I do suggest for you from now on) that is not a reason for them to be required to return your money if it was non-refundable.
