I hired Cary Lackey to represent me in a case. Upon initial consultation, I was told he would charge me $3000.00 to $4000.00. I paid the initial money but after getting into my case I was then told the total cost would be $13,000.00.
After many weeks and nothing being done I was told I needed to pay an additional $7000.00 to keep my case going. None of my calls ever got returned, there was never any preparation for my case, they just showed up in court and every time asked me questions like it was the first time they heard the answers. I kept being told there are more expenses that must be covered all at my expense, of course.
After falsely assuring me of the outcome of my case, and me believing they could win my case the result was not even close to what he promised. I am out thousands of dollars with my only major recourse being forums like this. Carey Lackey is not going to do what you ask, do not buy into the false promises and promises of years of experience.

I am primarily a criminal defense attorney who charges FLAT fees, UP FRONT, for representation in criminal cases. My fees are spelled out in detail in Fee Agreements that are signed by the client(s) and me. I have NEVER represented a paying client without the use of a Fee Agreement. You stated "I was told he would charge me $3000 to $4000." By WHO? You also made several statements about what "they" supposedly told you on my behalf. I am a solo practitioner - only one person sets fees and represents clients - ME! Unless I told you what the fee would be, you didn't hear it, plus, as stated above, I don't represent people without a fee agreement, signed by the client and me. You also said I never returned telephone calls. That is false. I pride myself on returning telephone calls I receive EVERY DAY, even if I do not return to my office from Court and appointments until well after business hours. From the "specifics" in your "report," I doubt very seriously that I EVER represented you. I take this libelous attack on my reputation VERY SERIOUSLY, as my reputation is paramount to me and my practice. If you WERE a client of mine, and you believe you can back up your claims, you should report me to the State Bar of Arizona. Their website address is www.azbar.org. I would much prefer to defend myself in a forum where I can face my accuser, rather than have an anonymous and spurious sneak attack on my character and reputation made by a coward behind a computer screen.
