First off I would not recommend that anybody rents a home from Catalina MHC at all and if I had the money to break my lease I would in a heart beat.  The new manager Wes is a totally unprofessional when you are speaking to him about a issue he looks at you like you are stupid.  He does not handle your issue at all.  I went to him about my neighbors behind me, first it was over there kids hitting my car with a skateboard, then s****.....

Manager is not "monitor of the playground"

I have to say that we must be living in completely different communities and I have to wonder what your actual part in the drama you portray really is.

You clearly have never spoken to the manager Wes.  Of the past five managers that have been at this community, he is the first manager to actually make a positive impact in cleaning up this community--forcing people to clean up both the trash and messes people have allowed to be around their homes in the past--no easy task here as so many of the other residents don't seem to care what their porches or yards look like at all. Personally, we'd like to see him evict a few of the people who make their porches into fire hazards and make this community look so bad.

This new manager is extremely polite.  He goes out of his way to listen and try to understand.  We needed work done at our  home and he was responsive and his team worked quickly to assist and resolve the situation.  He is professional and friendly to EVERYONE we have ever seen him interact with--even though I have seen more than a few people in the street or parking area or by the pool, and I've even witnessed it when I was in the office to pay my rent once when he is talking with them be rude, crude and completely out of control of themselves.   People may not like that he doesn't tell them what they wanted as the answer, but he is fair and professional.  We never see him interact with others at this community on a social scale and keeps everything professional, as he should and to say he "knows" people here, that is his job to know the residents. It is not his job to socialize and be palsy walsy with people here.  We think this is a huge improvement over certain past managers who were more than willing to socialize within the community, sadly to the detriment of the community.  He and his Mrs. mind their own business even though they live here.

We and other neighbors, many who have been here many many years have discussed the change in managers and are very pleased to have an effective and efficient manager here to oversee where we live.  We all have, however, seen many people who cannot seem to get along with their own neighbors, pick fights and even threaten others.  I don't know where the original respondent grew up but where I come from (here in Ohio) I was taught to treat people with respect, to learn to get along with my neighbors and when I couldn't to do my best to work it out.  I think it is very irresponsible and unrealistic for this complainant to think that this manager should be "playground monitor" to keep all the kids getting along.  That is the individual's responsibility in my book.  I can't help but read this complaint and think how it sounds like a child on the playground who didn't get what he wanted and so he's kicking the dirt saying, "I'll show them."  If people are threatening or causing physical harm...gee...isn't that what 911 is for?  I sure wouldn't put myself in between people who aren't getting along...heck, even the police don't like doing that so to expect a manager of a community to do this is very unbelievable.

Funny thing...the complaint mentions 2 parking spaces but um, I don't have two assigned parking spaces.  Most of the parking is on the street and we, like everyone here, look for an opening nearby our home.  To say people take "my" space is utterly silly since no one HAS assigned spaces.

As for the manager's getting the job here, well, I don't know the details but it is my guess that  if the owner's of this community screen us residents as much as they do (criminal batckground check, not allowing anyone with felony to lease or own here, landlord checks etc.) you can bet your boots that they work even harder to ensure that not only their employees are qualified but that they are MORE than qualified.  I feel certain that Wes has not told the complainant all of his previous work experience or job knowledge--nor should he have to explain that.  It is clear from speaking with the other staff members in the office that they haven't had as good a manager to work with in a long time (if ever) here.  If his mother also works for this company and recommended him, and he was able to get hired--I have to wonder, don't you think that would have made the process even MORE challenging for him to get the job and prove himself to his supervisors?

If we're going to discuss people who worked for the community but are rude and obnoxious, let's start with that couple who were the pool monitors who are into EVERYONE's business and constantly causing trouble in this community, even yelling at kids at the bus stop.  To the complainent, from a fellow resident,  it sounds to me like we'd all be better off to have you choose to leave and find someplace that suits you better.  My guess is that no matter where you go, you'll find you don't like anyone because that just seems to be the kind of person you are.  GET ALONG with your neighbors and stop acting like a child for goodness sake.
