Please let me apologize if the story is hard to follow. or it doesn't seem to make sense. It's taken me 2 months to get over the shock of the way i was treated by Celadon and there employees. The way I was treated. was wrong and immoral. people get sentenced to prison for treating animals like this. this is what happened to me. every one at celadon gets treated differently. depending on who you are and what your back round is. from what I had seen in the 8 long months i worked there. it is pretty much this. Canadian, Mexican or teams. or willing to travel to Canada. other then that. they don't care nothing about American solo drivers. unless you lease one of there trucks. and that is the simple truth about celadon.

My Story.

I started work for celadon in the middle of august 2010. after 20 hours on a bus. I was in indy waiting on the shuttle van. got to the dorm at celadon checked in went to the room which was less then a jail cell. 4 block walls a small window, a steal door and 2 beds. nothing else.  orientation was 3.5 days long. after that. I spent another 21 hours smashed between 2 fat guys in the back of a window van. there is no other way to say it. when i got to the truck in waxahachie,tx. Disappointing. pretty much summed it up. the truck had only been washed on the out side. the inside looked like a pig had been living in it. the truck looked like it had been in a few wrecks. the cab was smashed and scratched up on it. being optimistic figured it would be in better mechanical shape. was wrong there! so after 1200 miles I got back to the yard in indianapolis.  I had the truck checked out at the shop. that was after 3 days of being employed at celadon. they said they fixed it. later I found out they lied. went back for another week. the truck started messing up. had to fight with disbatch to get the truck back into the indy shop for repair. which took another week. they lied about fixing it again. so the truck basically broke down every week for 8 months. I was spending up to 4 days in the shop a thousand miles away from home. It was truely a rare thing for me to see a check over $400 a week. most weeks. my checks were $198. to the most of $286. take home a week. and when I mentioned to the truck assignments lady in the start of feburary that the truck was in the shop every week. and I can't afford to keep working hear. "I was a company driver for celadon"  the truck assignments lady said  "if anything" I would be reassigned into another truck. and then told me to come back at 11 a.m. the next day. turned out to be her lunch break. so at 12.30 or so. I went to see her. to find out the truck the were going to assign me to. all I got from the truck assignments lady. was rude nasty attitude. and then she had the nerve to ask me to go do recovery for her husband. and when i declined the offer.  she slammed the window shut. that was one event.  so pretty much left me out in the cold with a truck that broke down every week as a company driver. before that. in september or late fall. the cummins mechanic found that the turbo was falling apart. and said it had to be replaced. this was relayed to me by a celadon mechanic. the next day when the work was to be performed. the mechanic came out. looked at the turbo. then said, they just simply don't do that. shaking his head at me. treating as if i was the dumbest m*****f******. and said there was nothing wrong with it. and walked away. so I was pretty much forced to make a living with a truck that had serous mechanical problems.  and had to work with people that just didn't care weather i made a living or not. as long as they got there check every week. that is all that mattered to them. folks. this went on for 8 months. I could only afford to eat 3 times a week. i was only able to get one shower a week. I have had more days then i can count of not having the money to eat. and most of those time i was at the celadon main terminal in the cafeteria. you never want to know what it's like. to be hungry. and not have the money to eat. and knowing that the people you work for could careless about your health, your safety,or weather you make a living or not. so at the end of april when the truck but down again. i sent a message in to disbatch. and had them bring me back to indy. so i could turn the truck in. so they made sure i came in on saturday. so none of the heads wouldn't find out the truth. and they wouldn't have to explain there actions and keep there jobs. and I don't care if celadon rebutts this. I have solid concrete proof and fully documented. about how i was treated. and you better remember i was there company driver.

I knew things were going to be bad when Steve Russell told us in orientation that they would only pay 40% reimbursement for idleair. He said that they studied it and found that people would not use it if they reimbursed 100%. Liar liar pants on fire. I thought seriously about walking out of that orientation right then and there. I do not appreciate being lied to.

Your story does not surprise me in the least. I talked to a lot of celadon drivers on the road. They all, without exception, told me that celadon was a good company to work for at one time, but has turned into a steaming pile of pig feces and isn't worth anything anymore. They were just waiting until either retirement or until another better job opened up.

I should have kept track of how many days I spent at Wax and Laredo, waiting for a load. They always b***hed about, and later fired me for, my idle %. Gee, why would I idle in S. Tx in the summer? It was such cool, pleasant weather.
