I recently purchased a used Hyuandai Sonata from Central Kia of Lewisville. I put my down payment and signed off on all of the paperwork. I did have to have a co signer because of less than perfect credit. In any event, I went on about my way enjoying my new/used car. 2 weeks went by and I called the dealership to inform them that my temporary tags had expired and would need a new one. They said sure, we will overnight one to you which they did. The next day, I got a call from a guy by the name of Carlos stating that I needed to come see Derek in financing to do a VIN verification for the loan. Whatever that is. I said sure, I will be there during my lunch break.

I went there to do the verification. I walked into Derek's office and explained the reason for my visit. He said let me see the keys and I will get that done. I handed him my keys and he told me "oh wait! Actually the bank didn't approve the loan and we have to keep the car" I quickly became enraged because I understood I was coming up there to do a VIN verification. He said "no the bank didn't support a 1099 employee as a co signer and he would have a porter bring me back to work" So they dropped me back off at work and I went a couple days without a car.

3 days later, I went to Central Kia to explain my situation and try and find out a way to make this deal go through. Derek said there was nothing else to do and that this deal was null. I said OK I need something for my security and my co signer's saying that this deal is null. Derek said he would not do that and I told him fine I would just contact my attorney. He became furious and told me to get the hell out of here!! I went into the general manager's office to explain what was going on. I asked what I needed to do to get back into this car. I really needed a car and I guess i was desperate at this point. He said to put another 2000 down and I would be good to go. I said ok, I can do that.

We re worked the deal and re signed the papers on the same car. Just like the first time, I didn't receive a copy of the contract because I was told I would get it in the mail. They worked with me on the down payment and said I could do it in 2 installments. Well, the first installment date has passed and they have yet to draft the funds for the car. I can not get anybody to call me back regarding this deal. I am worried they are going to screw me over again. I only wish I would have seen this website prior to giving them $1500 for a down payment that will probably take forever to get back to me in the event that they screw me around again. This is just a letter for consumers to be advised before dealing with these screw balls!!
