We don't have to apologize for not wanting gays, lesbians, homosexuals or anyone with an "alternative lifestyle" in Chapel Hill Homeschoolers. As a father, I don't want my children to be exposed to a gay lifestyle any more than I would want my children exposed to any other sin.
The gay people keep asking to be free to live but then they join groups that don't want them. Aren't straight people also free to choose how we raise our children or what we believe? If you are gay, why join a group that has people you know are against the a gay lifestyle and then complain when you aren't wanted?
This issue continues to come up in our group. Long time members know we started the group as Christian conservatives who could support each other in homeschooling. But Chapel Hill Homeschoolers decided to turn into a non-profit a couple years ago and it's been nothing but a hassle. All of a sudden gays think we should "embrace" them.
Many of our long standing members find it against God's Law to be gay, homosexual or whatever you want to call it. I resent being told what to believe or how to run our groups (or that I am a hateful person because I don't believe in the lifestyle). I just don't want my children around people who are gay. It's not about hate, it's about choice and honoring the religious beliefs of people in our group.
If it's a gay person who made this complaint and they were banned from our community for their gay lifestyle, I think Chapel Hill Homeschoolers is better off. We don't join your parades so just stay out of our group and everyone will be happy.

It is hard to believe that this report was written about the wonderful organization to which I have belonged for several years. This organization is amazingly inclusive, non-judgmental and is a continuous source of inspiration, activities and friendships.
Chapel Hill Homeschoolers is a place to find families as diverse as our area - all races, religions, socio-economic levels, different homeschooling approaches.

I am a member of this organization, and have been for 5 years. We are an all inclusive group that does not EVER discriminate against anyone based on race, sexual orientation, gender, marital status, age, or any other stupid thing people use to hurt one another. At 200 participants, we have a fair representation of race, gender, same sex and hetero couples, etc. Nothing the author has reported is accurate or fair.
Additionally, the author is currently in the middle of an official conflict resolution situation with CHH, and has been cut off from communicating with the board of this organization while the Conflict Resolution Committee is formed. The author has been harassing the board and the "membership" (we're legally a non-membership organization) for weeks now, and is responsible for several defamatory comments and actions on the CHH loop. In fact, just before this particular rip off report was filed, the author was encouraged by CHH participants to stop instigating situations on the loop.
The accusations the author is levying here are actually a distortion of a group discussion on race and inclusion between another support group to which the author belongs and the Homeschoolers of Color. The founder of HOC started her organization in order to provide further and specific enrichment to her African born children, and she is a member of CHH *AND* HOC. HOC was NOT formed as a refuge from a "racist" CHH.
This author has written this erroneous and highly personally defamatory report simply because the author does not feel welcome to post their extreme and unfounded criticism of the board on the main CHH loop.
Please know that CHH is filled with liberal minded, inclusive members who regularly fight injustice and teach their children to do the same.
