I enrolled at the Chubb Institute in Springfield for Computer Networking in November of 2005, after a few years of job searching and indecision on what type of profession I wanted to get into. Before I signed up and gave them my money I was told of their 90% graduate placement rate, very hands on courses etc.
As I was going through the courses I found it was most all lectures from power point and labs that didn't work. So after the 30 minutes of lectures we had 4 hours plus of playing computer games, while the teacher sometimes played with us or chatted on aim. The first 4 teachers I had at the start of the program all quit or were fired by the time I graduated. My last course we didn't even have a classroom to do our work in for 2 weeks! The department head changed 3 times, all going to people were under qualified.
After I graduated in 2006, I did have a very good person helping me in grad placement who called me once a week and got me a temporary job for a month. When I was done that job I found out my person from grad placement left and someone else was put on my case. The new person called me like 3 times over a year that I was out of work. Also the few interviews I went on were all $12/hour jobs that said I was under qualified for.
So for 17k (only 6k I have to pay back thanks to a few grants) all I learned from Chub that I use now is how to illegally download games and movies. Luckily I have dad and brother who are in the Union and they got me a good job with very good pay/benefits as a floor layer.
In closing stay the hell away from Chubb!
