steve. I know what your saying could be right but cc does not need to be selling the products that they can't repair are refuse to repair and they don't need to be lieing to the public to get you into their store to buy from them and they don't need to be advertising things that they know they are going to be refusing to do. They don't honor their adds. I had my television fixed today. It cost me a bunch. Had to solder a place in the back. CC could have dune it on warrenty. I'll never buy from them again.

The OP obviously declined the extended service contract. This is where his problems began. Circuit City WILL retaliate against you in this way if you do not buy that extended service contract. they make big money off of these, and the sales rep gets a commission on it. Circuit City does not make any money on your factory warranty, it actually costs them money to service it. And, they may not be an authorized service center for Hitachi. Circuit City does not do in home repairs, only set up and delivery. My best friend here in Bradenton is in the TV repair business and has been for 25 years for a major retailer. There is an extreme shortage of qualified TV repair people. Most retailers are actually eating the repair, and just swapping out the unit due to not having qualified repair techs. Every competitor of my friends shop has tried hiring him out from under them for this reason. The technology is changing so rapidly that you can not even learn this trade in school anymore. You have to learn it while on the job. This is why Circuit City did not want to mess with it. It cuts into that managers bonus for the store's profit.

Hitchachi (the manufacturer) will fix the TV for you under the warranty that came with the TV, but YOU HAVE TO BRING IT TO THE NEAREST HITACHI AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER. The only reason you would need to deal with Circuit City is if you wanted IN-HOME REPAIR by their authorized service technician, which is NOT covered under the basic warranty. Your story does not add up. Circuit City cannot decide to void your manufacturer's warranty for no reason. As with any warranty, you need to follow the procedure for using it, which may including hauling in that huge TV at your own expense.

jamie, cc.com site says there is a 1 year warrenty on the television. there is no place on their site that says it is only if you order on line. its the stores that says that it is only covered if you order it on line. i called hitachi and they say it has a warrenty but i have to call the store where i bought it and get it fixed. its cc that refuses to fix it without me paying extra money. now its time to call it quits because i'm in bad health and mostly home bound. i have nurses here and providers daily. all i wanted was a set to watch to kill my time cc can keep the da_ money as i never want to see them again. good luck to you and merry christmas to you and yours seasons greatings to all

... your TV has a MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY through Hitachi. Contact Hitachi directly for any and all warranty needs. As someone else has already pointed out, the TV has a 12 month part/service warranty. There is no need to go through the store at this point. As a side note ... Most manufacturer's warranties do not provide IN HOME service -- in which case you must bring the TV into the repair shop on your own. Be prepared to expect this, and plan accordingly what with your disability and all. Just because you are disabled does not make it a "rip off" when the technician will not come to you. The rules are the same for everyone.

How can there be no warranty on a new TV purchased from Circuit City? Every new product comes with a manufacturer's warranty, and an optional extended warranty if the customer so chooses. But nothing is sold with "no warranty" as you claim. As for your disabled status, if you require special assistance above and beyond the normal delivery service (i.e., bringing the TV back to the store, moving it around, bringing it to the service center, etc.), that is something that you need to arrange on your own as it is not something ordinarily provided by the store.

Every new TV has a warranty no matter if you bought it in store or online. If the warranty was online only why would anyone buy one in the store? Something is crossed up here.

today I went to circuitcity.com and got their 800 number and called them to setup service. I told them that there web page says 1 year warranty parts and labor..she is telling me that one year is only if i ordered the television on line and since I paid for it at the store then there is no warranty.I think this is bad business for anyome and it does hurt the ones that are on a fixed income.

Here's the problem you are having there. The manufacturer issues the warranty, but I think the manufacturer is saying the TV is not setup right. In other words, there is nothing defective with the TV, it is just not setup right.

and the website price was lower. I asked the instore salesperson for their web price and he said the website was a 'different' part of CC with different prices, etc. So I ordered from a nice NY dealer with good Camera Dealers Reports feedback that played it really straight with me- I later ordered a second one from them as a gift. I guess CC missed two sales.

I checked CC's website and it does say 'Free delivery' for a Hitachi 57" tv. I also checked the specifications, and it says that this tv has a 12 month parts/labor warranty. I think you need to go back in there, but take someone else along this time. Go to CC's website and print off the information on your tv. Take it with you and SHOW them what you are referring to. Stand your ground! You paid a lot of money and deserve a working tv!

the television was new and in the box.. i plugged it in to the wall plug and hooked up the cable.. it is blurry and color is not right.. i have to keep changing the picture size to match the screen.. c c says free delevery and setup by professional.I did talk to the manager JEFF at the beaumont store and he got the free delevery down to $60.00 and thats just to drop it off in my driveway.. setup is still another fee.. I did learn 2 lessons here.. Never pay cash until you know what you are getting and never buy from cc.. they are still telling me that there is no warrnity on the set.. CC tells me to call Hitachi and Hitadhi tells me to call CC..

It could not be set up. You mean the TV was not working? Or due to your condition you needed someone to set it up. Please clarify that. If it is a new TV it has a warranty so not sure how they are telling you it does not.

Was this television new, or used? Did CC advertise set-up? Did the FREE delivery apply only to certain items?
