Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
In August 2003 we responded to a Citibank card offer for a 5% rebate on all of our purchases through November 2003. We called the 800# supplied and registered for this offer.

We then used the card over the next several months for some large purchases and paid the bill promptly and in full each month. After the first 2 months we still showed no dividend amount on the statment.

We called customer service several times over the next few months and were always assured that everything was in order and we would receive our cash back refund 60 days after the end of the rebate period that ended November 2003.

Well here it is March 2004 and still no refund. Now customer service is telling us we never called and registered for the program because the 800# was monitered and we do not show up on their list of people who called in.

I spoke with Mr. Stevens an account manager on October 30, 2003 at 6:15 pm and he told me Citibank was aware of a glitch in their 800# system and that a lot of numbers did not show up as activated but they were. I was told at that time our card was activated and we were indeed enrolled in the rebate program and we would have no problems getting our rebate check.

My husband called customer service on February 25, 2004 at 1:25 pm and was informed by both Lisa and Meletha that we would NOT be receiving any rebate and basically "Tough Luck".

I called back the same day at 4:10 pm and spoke with Debbie and Amber and received the same story. I asked to speak to Mr. Stevens and was told that no such person worked there and I could take my complaint and put it in writing and send it to the customer service address and then was hung up on by Amber.

From August 13, 2003 to November 30, 2003 we charged a total of $8667.28 on our card and paid it all off and should receive a rebate of $433.36. Evidently Citibank is trying to rip customers off who used their cards for this promotion and paid their bills and did not run up a balance.

I have sent a written complaint to Citibank and have consulted an attorney and have been told we can sue in small claims court.

I am giving Citibank 30 days to respond to my complaint letter and then I will file in court.

If anyone else has had this problem please put your report here on the website for others to see.
