I stumbled in to this cite while seaching for the e/mial address of CMS/FCNB-Spiegal due to repeated problems with late fees after the final statement is sent in. It appears once the final payment gets sent to this company witin reasonable time. They will accept the payment and then alledge it is late and assess a late fee of $35- creating a revolving account.

If one tries to contact the company at the listed tel # 516-576-8706, don't bother yourself, all you will get is a machine "no one answers". No e/mail addresses are listed in the statement.

Spiegal alleges CMS(the phantom company) is not affiliated with spiegal or newport news. This is a definate scam and it's a mater of time before they will get caught.

Continue to send your e/mails...

In the mean time, I say lets hit them where it hurts. Boycot there products and all affiliates. When the Class Action laws suit comes through count me in.

Update on Bauer

Eddie Bauer is NO LONGER part of Spiegel corporation, and has switched credit companies as well. Any old grudges should be reconsidered as Bauer is once again an independent company, and under new management.

First of all, it is spelled "SITE" Secondly, you could request to have the late fee waived if it was late once. We do that all the time. If you have 1 late fee we will be happy to waive one per year. Have you ever stopped to realize how many people touch your letter that you mail in to us? It could have gotten held up in some random city for a while... Who knows.. Thats one bad thing about mailing payments.

Poiters on solving the final payment

#4Consumer Suggestion

I think I've figured out a way to solve the problem with CMS otherwise called as the "3 dollar bill company" by one of it's former employees who took part of his gracious time to reply to our dilema.Thank you Jim. As we all know CMS/spiegal/Eddie Bauer/FCNB have a hard time letting go of it's customers. Here is the way I managed to handle this problem. When sending the final payment be sure to write on the memo section of the check "Final Payment". Take it a step further. Send it priority mail with a confirmation receipt. It will cost you $4.30 but will be well worth it. Moreover, also send them a copy a rip- off report and request copies of statements for the past year letting them know you are aware of thier game and making them work for the hard time they put you through. Hold on to your canceled check and receipt and all info for a long time to come.If they send you another late fee you'll be well equipted to handle them with copies of everything. I still think the way to fight them back is by not consuming their products.

Phone Number for FCNB (CMS) they are passing the buck so they do not have to handle the situation any longer

The stated telephone number of 1-516-576-8706 will not get you anywhere. I am a former employee of the Spiegel Group Teleservices. This number was generated so that customers would not call Eddie Bauer Customer Service for help regarding their FCNB accounts. Basically, they are passing the buck so they do not have to handle the situation any longer. The mailing address can be used to mail payments to (Old Bethpage, New York). Being a former employee and working in the Customer Service Department led to me quitting my job. It became very frustrating answering the same questions over and over again about the accounts. It felt like you were never leaving the place. FCNB, the bank that issued the cards, is owned by Spiegel. I bet nobody knew that!!! It makes sense and I will explain. Many of you may or may not have noticed that the Spiegel Group filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 03/11/03. Isn't it funny that FCNB the bank that issued the cards also filed for bankruptcy on 03/11/03??? With that being said, you can bet that they do have a telephone number to reach a live person, or to receive a statement. Part of the chapter 11 filing included Spiegel ridding of the FCNB accounts. The accounts were sold to Card Member Services. This is why the Customer Service Reps say that "We are no longer in a partnership with FCNB because they filed for bankruptcy on 03/11/03. Almost a year later, the Eddie Bauer and Spiegel Customer Service lines are still overwhelmed with phone calls regarding this issue. This was the reasoning for my exiting the company itself. I feel very sorry for all of the customers that had these cards. For the inconvenience that this company has caused you, I am willing to share a little tid bit of information with you. As stated earlier, I said their is a number you can call so you can receive your statement and also make a payment by phone. You will also be able to speak to a representative in regards to your account. The telephone number is 1-877-264-4754. I hope that this information is helpful to all that had anything to do with this phony 3 dollar bill company. Sincerely, Former Customer Service Rep. for The Spiegel Group
