Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company owns Collegiate Homes out of Southington CT manages rental properties near college campuses.  Specifically they manage apartment and house rentals near Central Connecticut State University CCSU and Quinnipiac University in Connecticut. Mr. Mat Florian is the person you will unfortunately have to deal with.

They used to operate under the name UHouz but recently changes to Collegiate Homes.  If possible I would give zero starts because this company is very unethical and renting illegally putting more students in homes than the city allows.

My son rented with some other students and they did not get their security deposit returned when they should have given they left the property in good condition.  This company fabricates charges, uses old images and does whatever it takes to ensure you don't get a security deposit returned.  In fact, they tried to bill the students $850 for a washing machine which was part of the rental and they should simply repair it as the landlord but tried to bill for a new one.  Really, $850 for a standard washing machine when they should fix it.  In addition, they tried to bill the boys for a City of New Britain fine that was imposed because they the landlord keep the house in poor condition, market and rent to 7 students in a home when that is not per code which generates more garbage than normal and forces students to clog up the street with their cars.  It was absurd they tried to bill $1100 for city fines.   These boys got totally burned out of their entire security deposit over $3500 due to the greed and unethical behavior of this company.  I also learned when researching this company that many others have had similar issues with fabricated damage claims.  If you just google search on "quinnipiac students challenge landlord you can see one parent got the news media involved.  I could go on with details of documents filed with the city on this company and the disgust shown by the housing authority.  You may also use this news link to see the video:

Bottom line, do not rent a house near CCSU or Quinnipiac from Florian properties who tries to hide their name through use of other sites such as collegiate homes where it is not obvious who you are dealing with and their domain name owners are hidden as well for all their websites.  Sneaky and dishonest.

This company should be completely and totally ashamed of taking advantage of students and their families, I truly don't know how the Florian's can sleep at night!
