Last May a sales rep from Comcast came to my house. He offered me a great deal. Digital cable and HBO locked in for $29.99/mo for a year. He said I had a past due amount that I would have to pay first. My cable was just shut off about 2 weeks before this. The past due amount according to him was over $300.00, I thought this was expensive and asked about it, he said it included the fee for the digital box I had not returned. He said I had to pay the fee upfront then after I returned the box I would be reimbursed. I paid it that day. The sales rep said someone would be coming for the box. They never did, so I called him back and he came and got it-no biggie right? Wrong. I got my first months bill and I was not credited for returning the old box. I called customer service 3-4 times about this before they finally fixed the problem, I was extremely upset the last time I called and told them I was getting a lawyer. The supervisor I was speaking with offered me an extra year at the same price for all of my trouble. Great, I accepted, I was credited for the digital box and everything was fine for a year. That was a year ago. Last month I got a bill for over $90.00, they said my promotional contract had ended! After calling customer service, they said they didnt know anything about it. Who ever approved that before had not put the 'code' in. I guess this is my fault??!?!

This rep tells me that she can offer me $39.99 a month until I have time to go to my local office. Well the way I work, that is impossible. I say fine put me in for that and nect month I will pay both months at $39.99. So I get the next months bill, now it is over $200.00!!! I call back and explain the situation AGAIN, this time they tell me there is nothing they can do it is not their fault the cs dept. didnt put the code in, but I need to pay the bill. I ask about the $39.99/month-again they say they dont know anything about it.

I will not pay this bill. I will pay $29.99 for the 2 months owed, plus any taxes and such. I think I am going to have to get a lawyer seriously now! I dont know what else to do, I will not pay this bill, I do not owe that money, they screwed up not me. HELP!!!

First, did you get a reciept from the individual that you gave the box to? Second, DO NOT ever do business with door to door salespeople for services that you can order over the phone with the company or in the local office!!!! Third, every time you change your bill you will get prorates. Get a calculator and figure up how much you are being charged for each individual service and how much is being taken off for the promotion. Fourth, have you made a payment at all yet? The longer it drags on the more you will wind up paying FIFTH AND MOST IMPORTANT--One you have sat down with your calculator and figured everything up to the best of your ability, call Comcast over the phone and DO NOT GET OFF until you understand completely what you are being charged for and what you owe. Get a confirmed amount from the person that you are talking to. Tell them that you will be calling back in 24 hours to double check that the amount is as they stated. Get their name, ext number, sales ID whatever it takes to be able to identify the person. Then ask for their supervisor's name so that in case they do not follow through you have someone to report them to. If they refuse to give that information ask to speak to their supervisor right then. If they say they are not available then tell them you will hold. An agent's service stats are based on call time and hold time. I can guarantee they will get you someone promplty. DO NOT accept a call back!!! But do your due diligence first. Always do your research and do not let scam artist's like "Direct Sales" agents (the person you originally ordered with) take advantage of you. Yes they are cheaper up front but most are unscrupulous and will cause you more problems in the long run.
