I had reservations for 2 night stay at Comfort Suite for May 30, 2008. However, I woke up that my morning and found that my car had been stolen. A police officer came over and we reported the vehicle stolen. Therfore, I cancelled my reservation for that evening because i no longer have a vehicle for the 3.5 hour drive to hotel. Comfort Suite charged my credit card one night stay because i canceled less than 48 hours. I called the hotel again on Wednesday, June 4th and spoke with Mike Stark (General Manager is George Stark, Jr), and he was very rude to me. He put me on hold saying that he "needed to speak with Patty" - however, they did not push the hold button and I can hear him saying he does not care that my car was stolen. When he returned to the phone, I informed that I heard the entire converation and he informed that he was trying to run a business and there was nothing he can do.

My vehicle was stolen from me. Its one of the worse things that can happen. My vehicle being stolen means I had no vehicle to drive up at that time. Comfort Suite should not have charged me one night stay for this was an unplanned traumatizing even. I would request the charges be reversed on my credit card.

Did you try writing a letter to the corporate office???

How many excuses (some real and some imagined) do you think that management hears from people trying to cancel reservations at the last minute (well within 24 to 48 hours anyway). You should try writing a letter to the corporate folks (not the hotel manager) explaining what happened and why you had to cancel your plans. Were you traveling for business or pleasure??? Why not get a rental car??? Maybe print up a copy of the police report and send it with the letter as well. You could be surprised at the arrangements that could be made if you go over the head of the hotel manager. Good luck,
