Comp USA Rebate Ripoff Fresno California
Beware of COMP USA. Fresno CA. I saw an Comp USA ad for an hp printer in the sunday paper. went to the store that morning to purchase it. guess what, they didn't have even one in stock. they explanation was that it is a national ad and they do not stock item in anticipation of a sale.
they said they could order it and the rebate would still be in effect. they ordered it, three weeks later they substituted another item, I sent in the rebate, it was denied. after a call to the Rebate center, I was informed that the they would not honor the rebate do to the fact that the store had refunded my original purchase and created a another invoice for the substituted item. (this rebate policy is to keep people from getting a rebate, then returning the item.)
I went to comp usa with all my paper work, explained the what had happened. asked for store credit of $30 toward the purchase of some software that I needed (would have been a $400 purchase) the store clerk aggreed but said the manager would have to approve it, but he wasn't in. I return later only to get the run around from the manager, who wanted written documentation from the rebate center to prove that my claim was valid. they weren't going to lose a dime and they could have kept a good customer if they had simply given me store credit.
anyway, my point is be careful with rebates,they have very specific guidelines and anything irregular in the transaction can cause the rebate to be denied, sales people will promise you anything and once they have your money your stuck.
