At CHG Healthcare Company they are proud of the culture of Putting People First. It is a Mantra that every employee is taught in training early on to drink the Kool-Aid and cheer that its the greatest company to work for, but I believe there is another side that isn't shared with the public.

Locum Tenens is Latin for "To hold the place of". It is hiring part-time physicians for spots that are available because of openings or vacancies created by vacations, physicians living a practice, Federal and Private practices. CHG Healthcare Company has several divisions CompHealth, Weatherby.

What people don't know is that the company says it supports a good work life balance which it doesn't because it expects its employees to come in sick, not allow its employee to attend to there sick children. They put a PA Physician on site that you are expected to see if there are any issues with health so that you don't have to miss work to go to your own physician or specialist. I was fired for missing 2 days within a 6 months period of time. These days were one spent at a doctors office and the other was spent in so much pain I couldn't report to work. I notified my boss and even brought in a doctors note. I received so many praises from fellow employees about my performance and even my boss telling me how well I did. I was recognized by my peers for exceptional performance and I was put up for the CompHealth experience award. But the returning from the second day of missing work I was greeted by my boss and HR representative and told I was laid off for missing work. HR gave me the snarl  on her face like I had committed a crime and they would escort me like a criminal.

If you are asked to leave the HR department leads you to the door without returning to collect your belongings. I was treated like a criminal when I was lead to the door without any of my belongings not even my wallet in my desk. It took a week before I received my wallet through the mail with my ID, credit cards and such. So you see it was really hard being laid off and no access to funds from my bank because I didn't have ID.

The company doesn't tell or publicize, but it has 25% turnover annuli, which speaks to how it really is not so nice of a place to work because really good people are leaving or being asked to leave. So the influx of new people keep the ratings for best company to work for so I say its a number that isn't accurate.  The company has exceeded 22% growth in the last year and yet really doesn't tell the employees about it so they don't have to celebrate the exceptional performance built off the employees backs. The celebration is leadership walking around throwing cheap candy to employees celebrating meeting short term weekly goals.

The opinion survey for Best Company to work for doesn't include asking the Physicians who are recruited doing the front line work at Hospitals and Private practice. The Clients in the Hospitals and Private practices evaluate the Physicians and this information doesn't make it to the opinion survey. The scores from this years Clients are the lowest in years. So what that says is they are putting shady part-time physicians in Hospitals and Private Practice.

Most of the Sales People are compensated very well, but the people who make it all work behind the scenes aren't paid very well at all. Recently the Business Partner pay was made known to the entire company in a ploy to make these people believe they were making what the industry said they should make. The bottom line is they pay the people who do all the work very little, but the sales people making all the phone calls to the physicians are the ones making 4 to 6 times what the people behind the scenes are making. The executives are really well compensated with big raises and giant bonuses and everyone else receives 2 percent or less for annual raises. Not even cost of living annual raises.

It is a weekly roller coaster ride on the Sales side and if you don't preform in a short amount of time you get the boot out the door. All the while the Presidents daughter of CompHealth receives special treatment and because she basically works for her mother and isn't expected to perform to the same level. Sits on social media sites all day and gets paid for it. And if for some reason you fall out of favor with the daughter its definitely shared at the dinner table with mom. It doesn't matter how hard you work it is always how you are fitting in with the personalities with the upper management. Even if you peer group is saying exceptional things about you all that matters is how you are perceived by your own direct manager.

Bottom line if you work here you can be let go in a heart beat without reason and they do it all the time. One day you may own a book of business and the next it is given to someone else and your shown to the door. That job is then given to someone who is related or tight with any of the managers. Managers are expected to work extreme long hours. No matter if you've done your job and its time to go home you are expected to sit in the seat for long hours as a sign of devotion. If you did your job in 8 hours you are still expected to work longer just for perception of management and weather you fit the profile or not.

Rated Top 3 best companies to work for doesn't make since to me. Google is number one and I can see that they build big gyms, full length gym courts, volleyball courts, endless gym equipment to use and stay healthy, other companies give raises in line with how well the company is doing, continued training for wanting to increase knowledge of their skills used everyday in the job. CHG Healthcare Services has a small 1000 sq ft. room with minimal equipment and the employees have to pay for the use of it, if they have telecommuting they don't offer it, Management doesn't promote work life balance and watches the clock with employees. CompHealth has job fairs every couple of months and current managers will dress up and play like they are looking for a job. They play all kinds of games to weed out the possible employees they don't want and in the end the managers dressed like recruits reveal they are actually an employee.

In the United States we have incredible high Health care costs and that is because companies like Comphealth a CHG Company, are making huge margins for finding vacancies across the states. Comphealth doesn't care about the quality of the physician only how big of a gross margin they can create by placing the physician.

So if you are thinking of going to work for CHG Healthcare Services or CompHealth you may want to think twice. Depending on what team you land on it could take years before you will see your hard work pay off. Everything depends on the specialty you land on when hired. You are paid on days you put on the books. Some specialties are experiencing greater volume in days than others. So it can be pure luck landing on a team with high volume days.

Serious think twice about this as a career it isn't that great of a business model and so using it as a stepping stone for your career can be troublesome.
