Pilots beware!

Control Vision produces aviation navigation software for portable devices like the pda, pc, and laptop to be used for navigational purposes. The product is called anywhere map. Their websites are anywheremap.com, and controlvision.com. They don't tell you up front, or clearly, that the software has to be renewed twice a year at a hundred bucks a pop for subscription.

I baught their software for the pda not knowing this. It did not work at all.

After dozens of attempts to contact support by e-mails which went unanswered for close to a week, I tried to get help by phone. They want you to pay for the call out of your own pocket (long distance).

Upon getting an RMA, I returned the product for a refund at my own expense.

Each week, for 3 weeks, I checked my bank to see if the refund was sent. It never was. Each week, I'd call Control Vision Corp. to ask about the delay.

They kept saying they would run the refund request through that day, and never did. (Lies).

Then, they say "it takes 2 weeks to get a refund". (excuses)

Nearly a month later, I called again, and they had still not run the refund request through, and said they would do it that day.

I called my bank, and they still had not sent the refund. I called a day later, and they said "the refund request was sent the day before, and that it would take 3 days from the date of request till my bank registers the refund". (more excuses)

Then they tell me "there is a 15 percent restock fee".

The software they send is sent on a burned cdr disc, in a dvd box that's not evin in shrinkwrap. What's to restock?

The state of Mississippi has a prompt payment act. I wonder if Kansas has the same laws on their books. I wonder if my state's prompt payment act covers businesses not in the state of Mississippi, but do business with Mississippi residents.

Control Vision finally issues refund.

As of March 30th, 2006, Control Vision finally issued a partial refund. I call it a partial refund because they stiffed me out of a 15 percent restock fee which I feel is unfair, and they stiffed me out of nearly 8 bucks for the "handling" fee on top of shipping charges. I will never do business with a snake in the grass like this firm again. No tech support. Needless delays to refund. Lies, stalling, excuses. I'd call controlvision.com and anywheremap.com a navaigational hazard in cyber-space.

Control Vision: hidden fees

If not giving you your money back in a reasonable (short) amount of time were not bad enough, Control Vision charges a whopper of a hidden fee of close to 8 bucks for "handling" on top of the shipping fee. When you add in the "restock" fee that's allmost 20 bucks this firm rips out of you just for returning a product that does not evin work. Oh, I still don't have my refund as of 03/29/06
