We had transmission troubles while on vacation-visiting parents in Brunswick, OH. We took the vehicle to Cottman because of the Nationwide Warranty.

After vehicle was "fixed" it had a vibration in it that became apparant at about 30 miles per hour. The man at Cottman said it was the wheel bearings - my stepdad replaced them - still had vibration. Then Cottman man said it was the axle - my stepdad replaced it - still had the vibration. The Cottman man said it was the brake rotors - the vehicle had "new" rotors that were still under warranty - but we replaced them. The vibration was still there. Cottman looked at it again and had it for a few days - replaced differential - still had the vibration in it. This time they said they had done all that they could do.

We drove it home to WV. Supposedly the thing has 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty. When we got it home the vibration was worse and we had 2 leaks of transmission fluid. Took it to Cottman Transmission in Winchester, VA for a "free" evaluation. We didn't say anything - just said we had a vibration and could they evaluate it. Their mechanic said it was probably in the Transaxle. (Which is what 2 other mechanics had already told us.) At that time we showed them the warranty and made an appointment.

After they had the vehicle for a day they call and say it's going to cost us $ to replace Transmission mounts and that would take care of the vibration. Guess what? It didn't. They will not fix the transaxle - said that it's got to be something else. At this point- I told them that we were going to build a new vehicle around that Transaxle and they still were not going to honor their warranty.

Now what do we do. If we take it to another Transmission shop it renders the warranty as null and void. When you put the vehicle up on the lift you can feel the vibration in the Transaxle!!

Cottman Transmission has not lived up to its warranty - and we are out over $1700 with a vehicle that is not fixed!!
