I got my truck back and Credit Acceptance sent me a letter with intent to sell. I mean how stupid is this? I sent the money to them by moneygram on the 2 of Feb. and they still sent this to me. I feel that there is something wrong about this entire company. Not only do they harress you but they send threating letters after the fact. I am keeping this letter as proof of their stupidty.

I acttually get this one, Paid the second, Letter dated the fourth, they expect instant and correct attention when they call us but can't be bothered to give the same to us when we deal with them, normal but imensely annoying. When I run into this kind of thing I discontinue my business with them as quickly as possible, and as I have no need of a good credit rating that can be PDQ.

Hopefully someone will post who knows more about this stuff, but what I would suggest is that you get out from under them as soon as possible.

Besides finishing the contract and paying the remaining payments on schedule, there are a couple of other avenues to explore.

If you have the funds, you could pay off the car and be done. You'd likely save some interest too. Be sure to call them for the payout amount and get it in writing in case they try to burn you later.

If you don't have the funds, you might be able to refinance your loan with another lender. If credit is an issue, perhaps a co-signer would help.

If you're stuck though, which many people are these days, just keep on going as best you can. Remember to keep good records of when you made your payments and how much you paid. Unfortunately, you're just a number to these clowns and are only as good as your last payment.

If they can't seem to handle online pays, I'd stick to mailing them a check or doing a debit/credit card over the phone. Either way, follow up with your bank after you make each payment so you can be sure that they got it and took the payment. That way you won't fall into any of those 'held' payment scams I read about so often.

   I got my truck back on Friday the 5 of Febuary. The letter is dated the 4 of Febuary. I have the letter. I paid Credit Acceptance on the 2 of Febuary by moneygram at total of 795 plus moneygram fees. Is there a way to stop these people and the way that they are treating the very people that they say that they are trying to help rebuiled or establish credit. I feel that they are doing more harm than good at this point. I had made my payments on time for the past year with maybe a slight variance of when exact payment was sent until this past month starting in Dec. I tried twice to send this payment online but the last time they said that the bank returned it. Well I checked with my bank and they had no record of it.

Are you thick?

First, not a ripoff.

Second. You JUST paid them on 02/02 and you got a letter 02/06 or before? What's the the mail take to get to you? A few days? Sounds like it went out right about the time you finally decided to pay your bills.

Since you finally caught up on your payments (no judgements, btw) they got you your vehicle quick. What I mean is, only one person there in one department probably had to see the funds hit to release your vehicle. That doesn't mean the payment was updated company wide at that exact moment. Understand? When a payment is received by a large company, it takes time be posted to all areas. If the letter was printed or even just in a queue waiting to be printed, it would likely still go out. If they are a large comapny or if the letter was printed late in the day, it might have even been postmarked the day after.

Going forward, try to live up to your responsibilities, pay your bills on time, don't have your car repo'd anymore, and I doubt you'll receive anymore "stupid" letters from them or anyone else.

Just kidding! That was a meatball, so I had to take the shot. Really though, I think the letter was a timing issue.
