I was about to cross New York Avenue when I heard a guy call me and motioned me over to his car (Silver Pacifica I think). He asked me if I spoke French or Italian. I told him no. He said he was looking for someone that speaks Italian, so I started to tell him about an Italian restaurant around the corner.

He then started telling me that he worked for Georgio Armani (with a great Italian accent) and was trying to get back home (while showing me his airline ticket and passport). He had 4 leather jackets (Emporio E.G.A /R.G.A aka Armani)and he wanted to give them to me as a gift if I bought one of them. They are nice looking jackets and they feel and smell like real leather.

I was totally convinced that they were real and authentic. He told me he would give them all to me for $640. I told him that I would be back. So I withdrew the funds and as I walked out of my bank he was right there. I thought I got a great deal, but decided to research Emporio R.G.A. when I got back to my desk. When I saw that it was a rip off, my heart sunk!! I thought I was being helpful to someone in need and I got suckered. Well if anyone has any information on how to catch this guy let me know!! Please post the info below.

I don't know if you gays don't really understand or what. IT's not very hard. The same is uppen to me and some more friends, we been in the police station we there are many names and photos about italians that do this kind of business.may be a gay had used the name Danilo Rippa in the past and may be was not his real one too because I don't think that a lier give his real name. It's not possible that a person can stay in differents places in the same day. If you don't know the name of yours sellers you gays Should not write any name because you'll never know the real one if you write the wrong one. .Anyway you can go by your self in the police station and check. If you try Esposito or Paolo Rossi with EGA Emporio you can see that other people like us have been ripoff but from different mans. The police had arrested many of tham but only for a nigth, gays we'll never take back us money.

Hey gay a big help for you. I was on Diagonal a main street in Barcelona an two italians had tryed to sell those jackets to me and my cousine but my cousine was ripoff one year ago from an older man so we call the police that had check them.Unfortunately the police let's them go because the jackets are not fake, all the personal documents are original and they got the envoice too. But i have the complete names : Paolo Rossi from Napoli Italia and Gennaro Esposito from Napoli too They were arrived in Spain one day before. Gay i have been lucky because i was with my cousine that was ripoff . But you must know that the italian leather jackets street sellers are gangs and they are all around the world. Speaking with the police mans they todl us that in the past they have tryed to stop this kind of scam but is like inpossible because all that they do it's not a crime and the gudge let's them pay just a penality a ticket for sell in the street without license.

The story is the same. My roommate was aproached by a guy asking if he speaks Italian. Being the WOP that my roommate is he said Yes and they started a conversation. "I am from other country, got jackets for sale, dont want to pay tariff or taxes on merchandise while returning to his country. And, I am lost on a way to the Airport." So, my roommate comes by the house, tells me the guy is waiting for him, at a local Home Depot, and tells me to google the jacket name "emporium" We find this post, go to see and confron the guy and as we approach the red light, close by, we see him headed in opposite direction. The guy flips a ueee and follows us as we pull in front of two police cruisers. HAHA We then explain to Dekalb County, Georgia Police that this guy is a con artist and we have proof, printed in the car. They search him and verify european drivers license, visa passport and have to let him go as they find nothing to hold him on. I have taken these pictures shile pretending to be conserned about something else and while talking with cops. Another one of these guys "giuseppe p" pulled me up as I was walking to the gym in Burleigh Waters, Gold Coast. Same story, thick Italian accent, showing passport, saying he was hear for a fashion show, going back to Italy, didn't want to pay taxes and wanted to give me 2 free jackets if I payed "material cost" for one etc. offered me jackets for $600 upfront but i said they weren't my style. I did not trust him from the beginning however in hindsight, the jackets were quite nice and if I could've got them off him for under $200 the lot, it wouldn't have really mattered. Oh Well, if you see one of these guys, make sure you don't pay too much. haha

There seems to be a syndicate of these guys going around. Just the other day coming out of my local Pizza Hut a guy in a blue Ford (newish 2000+ model) came up to me with the same deal. ASked me if i spoke italian. He had ust finished at local fashion show at a big hotel on way airport. He showed me his passport and travel ticket. Said his name was Carlos and that he didnt want to pay the export tax for all the jackets and he would sell them cheap and buy presents for the family. I should have been more suspect cause good things dont usually happen to me. He offered the jackets for A$200 saying normal retail is about A$1100. So i bought one but later things started falling into place so thought i would check it out and what do i find first up but this rip off report :( He did give me a business card though. The same scenario happened to me last night. He said he was from Milan, just finished an expo at the Javitts Center and was looking for the Lincoln Tunnel to get to Newark for his flight. He showed me an Italian passport, etc. and asked for directions. He was driving a silver Chrysler Pacifica and wearing a grey coat (black & white weave pattern). He also said he was 22 years old. In exchange for $700 I got two black leather coats and one light brown suede coat. All were wrapped in plastic and upon close inspection are obviously fake. I truly hope he is returned all the misery he has put out.

I cannot believe this guy. i was approached by an italian "antonio" at a gas station, asked if i spoke italian, told me i looked italian (i don't) and said he needed directions to the airport, he was in a rental car--he had a Hertz map. he told me he was coming from a trade show and received a bunch of free sample sale leather jackets that he didn't want. then said how he wanted to buy his wife a digital camera and how much would that cost....$300 later and i have two black "leather" bomber jackets, one "suede" coat, and a blue pinstripe suit (which actually fits pretty well, but will always evoke feelings of misuse) the coats REEK of gasoline--clever that the setup occured at a gas station therefore. they are stinking up our patio but will soon be on their way to the salvation army will be filing a report shortly

Wed, September 20, 2006

I ran into him in Pioneer Square in Portland, OR about 2 months ago. He was driving a Cooper MINI. But it was a different deal. He was selling Salvatore Ferragamo loafers that he got a special inside deal on from the Nordstrom in Pioneer Square. I purchased 3 pair of the Tibet, which retail for $460 a pair. He sold me the 3 pair for $500. Shortly thereafter, I discovered they were fakes, and I attempted to return them to Nordstrom for store credit. They politely told me to leave or they would call the police. I can't believe Nordstrom is selling fakes and refusing to take them back. I'll never shop at Nordstrom again. Their customer service is not what it used to be. Stay out of Nordstrom!

Was in Drogheda (Ireland) yesterday at the retail park off the M1, was sitting in my car, minding my own business, eating a Subway roll. A car pulled up next to me and an Italian, well dressed male with an older grey haired Italian next to him, the younger guy asked me if I was interested in some Jackets that had just come from an Armani exhibition, they had been given these as samples but wanted to sell them so they could have a 'bonus' to go home with. He said that he had 3 jackets, they looked real, he showed me brochures saying they were worth E1500, but that all they wanted was E600, I told them that I didn't have that kind of bucks, and he had a 'conversation' with the older guy in Italian, came back to me and said that whatever I had would do, stupidly I told them I had E150 and after another conversation which seemed heated he said ok, I checked on the net for the label and found that it was a scam...

He is at it again. Sept 1st 2006. Today I fell victim to his trap. He came into my store asking for the owner (me). Went on to tell me he was on his way to the airport and had some extra leather jackets and suit that he did not want to bring back to Italy. He showed me his airline ticket and passport. It all looked real. He went on to sell me 2 leather jacket, 1 suede jacket and 1 suit for 500.00 CDN. He was driving a rented silver Magnum. A lot of the same information as earlier reports. I have contacted the police and am to file a report tomorrow.good luck and let's catch him. Thank you for the opportunity to voice this report.

Mon, August 21, 2006

Ok, I'm Brazilian and I was in Paris in march 2006 and an Italian, same description of the case reported, approached me in this car, asking if I was Italian (I look like one). He was trying to speak french, but his french was very bad. So we spoke in italian/spanish/french. He said that participated of an fair and that two jackets had remained, and he wanted an information to find certain street. My friend that was with me knew that street and we gave his the information. Then he offered us the jackets. The difference is that he asked for just U$ 100.00 to buy gasoline and go back to Italia. U$ 100.00 for two leather jackets!! He didn't mention Emporio EGA, or Armani, or anything of the type. As we liked jackets, we bought them. A few minuts ago I was in the supermarket and I looked at the (that thing used to close the jacket, I don't know the word in english) of my jacket and it was written "Emporio" and noticed too that it had Armani's symbol. So I've done this to research to know if it was REALLY an Armani and I found this reports in here. I am just telling what happened to me, in the intention of helping. I don't care myself if the jacket is Armani or not, if it's false or not. It's a very beautiful jacket, made of legitimate leather and it costed just U$ 50.00. It's all that matters to me.

It happened yesterday, 13th June 2006, when a man in coat & tie riding in a car approached and ask me where is the way to the airport. He looked polite but then he started to tell that he have some Emporio Armani leather jackets and suits that he didn't want to bring back to Italy 'coz he'll gonna pay customs tax and he wanted to buy some gifts. He gave me his business card and showed his Italian passport. He later then showed me the items and told me if I want to buy them he priced them $Cdn800 but according to him the retail price is Cdn$1,600 each but I told him I can't afford it 'coz i don't have money and 'twas too expensive. He bargained for $Cdn600 and asked if I can use my credit card to withdraw 'coz he's leaving in 4 hours. I was convinced then to pay them w/ my credit card and went to withdraw at the bank 'coz I thought the items were original brand. I searched in the internet about Emporio E.G.A. and showed the rip-off report about these fake jackets. The quality of the leather jackets are nice though they are fake. Perhaps i could wear them during the harsh winter in Albeta. No choice but to wear them though i was fooled by a fraudulent Italian guy. This Italian Guy in a nice rental, was waving me over he asked if I knew how to get to the airport. He told me to follow him to the parking lot of this store, I then gave him directions. He told me he only had an hour to make it to the airport, and that he had these expensive Armani Jackets. He was very persistent He said they would charge him real high duties if he took them with him. He asked me if I could get to an ATM and he will give all 3 jackets for a thousand dollars. I said no I can't afford it I am a student, I told him to find someone else he said he would give me all 3 for about 350.00 I said what the hell I might as well. He showed me an Emporio Brochure, and the Jackets all had tags and came in their own individual Emporio protective bags. Plus an Emporion Shopping Bag too, I thought I got a good deal till I came on here, now I feel like an idiot. But the Jackets are still pretty nice though.

It was a rental car though. I want my money back, he took 140 for 4 jackets though. i was gonna give them to my friends so it wasnt a big loss for me but i still want the $ back. Lesson learned. His story was that he worked for armani as a manager and he was goin back to italy and didnt want to pay the extra on customs. So i was screwed, s**t happens.

I was about to get into a mall at Security boulevard, MD, when a white guy with Italian accent stopped a car and asked me a direct to the airport. He showed me some Italian passport and air ticket. He then told me that he is a sales person for a big store and he is about to leave for Italy but needs to get rid off a couple of nice jackets and showed me three jackets. For some odd reason I believed him and I paid him $300 for the three jackets. I check the net to find out that I was one of his vitims. This happened on 3/28/06 at 1:30pm. If there is anything I should do please let me. I will try to contact Sgt Shaw as one of you suggested and I am trying to contact the police dept in my county

The same thing happened in Texas in 2005. My family and I were parking at Lowes, and this guy next to us in a rented Expedition told us that he had some jackets that he needed to get rid of before he go back to Italy. He said that he had just gotten back from a fashion show in Dallas. He had jackets and "authentic paintings" in his back seat. He told us he would sell them all to us for $600, as he needed to go to the airport and didn't want to declare more items in customs. We told him we didn't have the money and he left. What tipped us off was there wasn't a fashion show in Dallas at that time. He fit the same description that everyone was talking about.

As stated by the Glen Allen person, this guy is good. Unfortunately, I fell victim to his scam. I was at the Chantilly Costco center and walking to my car when an Italian guy in a silver Dodge drove next to me. He stated he was on his way back to Italy and did not want to carry the excess jackets back with him. He showed me 4 jackets which were not bad but now that I know they probabaly cost $25 or less, I feel very dumb. You live and learn. I had left a message for Sgt Shaw at the Leesburg police dept. I ended up buying all 4 jackets for 1,000. Lesson learned here is look very carefully and call up a friend with a live internet connection before you buy.

Yea i work here at Best Buy In Glen Allen, VA and this Guy came and approached me with the same things He had three jackets in the cars passenger seat. Two leather and one suede *(the suede is the only one that felt real to me). Anyway he was trying to find how to get to Dulles International i gave him directions Afterwards he asked if i was Italian I told him no but then told him my family is from Europe. This guy was funny He wanted me to buy him a Sony PSP in exchange for these jackets ALL THREE! as he put it. Anyway he was rambling on about Taxes and Tariffs on these goods and finally i told him that i didn't have any money and I was broke so then he asked for directions again and then he was on his was. Did anyone else get to see his magazine that had all the jackets in it. Oh yea when he was here he had a Dodge Magnum Silver hope this helps someone out

Hello Uriel Do you think it's too late to file a report with the DC police since this happened almost a year ago? I will contact SGT Shaw. Thanks for the suggestion. I still have those jackets in the bag he sold them to me in. Everytime I look at it I wonder where he is and if he is scamming someone. I live in Charlotte, NC now, but I would love to help catch this guy. I want him off the streets and behind bars. If I got my money back that would be a bonus. Thanks again.

Help for you Anthony, contacted the Leesburg police

#56Consumer Suggestion

Mon, March 20, 2006

Hey Anthony, I contacted the Leesburg police department after my incedent two days before you. I know your incedent happened in DC, but it's the same guy. Contacting the police can only help. I have friends in the Montgomery county Police department and they suggested calling the police. Call the dc police and file a report. Also try the Leesburg police department and ask for a Sgt Shaw he will try to help you as well. Any info you give him may help him find this guy. Also the more people that call him in Virginia the more likely they are to try to and catch this guy. Sgt Shaw told me he will try to get me my money back if he gets him. I am sure he will try for you as well. If you can't find Sgt Shaw send a rebute on my complaint, it's the one before yours.
