I purchased two Cassette Adapter MP3 Players from www.dealextreme.com. When I received the package, I charged the items as stated in the instructions. When the charging cycle was supposed to be done, I disconnected the players and found that the batteries were dead.

I contacted them with my problem, and they told me to send the items to an address in California. I was told that when they receive the items, they will send replacements and that I would receive store credit for the postage I spent. When the items reached the destination, as promised, they sent replacements.

I soon after started receiving calls from a Chinese sounding fellow (Chinese accent) stating that he was trying to reach me to get my information for my upcoming high school reunion (I'm almost %100 positive it was from the person who rceived the goods for DealExtreme). Fortunately for me, he didn't have the correct high school r the correct year.

Once I received the replacement item, I contacted DealExtreme to notify them that I returned two items but only received one in return. I charged the item as per the instructions, and once again, the battery was dead. I contacted DealExtreme about the problem. They once again told me to ship the item to the California address and that I would receive store credit for the postage.

I waited for the second item to arrive to check whether it would operate or not. When the second item arrived, the battery charged, but the SD port couldn't read the SD card placed in the slot. Once again I contacted DealExtreme about the problem and I was told to return the merchandise.

I returned the latter item and took the earlier item to an electronic repair facility to have the battery replaced (Since the battery was the only problem with the product). When they received the defective item, they sent a replacement and told me I would receive store credit for the postage I paid.

I've gone through this at least four times with them, and hen I received the replacement, I contacted them again, but received no answer. I waited for an answer (Their website states an answer within 24 to 48 hours. I was going through a lot that week, so the matter completely slipped my mind.

About a month later, I received an email stating that my
ticket was now marked as inactive. I started another customer service ticket, stating the problems that I had, and that I just wanted a refund, no replacement. The representative told me that I would not receive a full refund of my shipping charges because my inquiry was after 30 days of receiving the item.

I immediately responded to her reply, stating that the only reason my inquiry was timed out was because the previous representative didn't respond to my inquiry. She then asks me for PROOF that my inquiry was within 30 days. Just the fact that they have all of the interactions on their computers, and she could easily call up the information made me LIVID!

I wrote her back with all of the pertinent information from al of the emails between me and DealExtreme. I showed her proof of when I received the package (Hong Kong Post info) and when I contacted DealExtreme. She told me that I couldn't receive a full refund at this time because my inquiry was after 30 days.

DealExtreme sells shoddy merchandise at GREAT prices. just know that you get what you pay for. Don't take my word for it, read their own forums.
