Devington House Furniture ripoff and scammed Indianapolis Indiana
I bought a Bassett sofa and love seat from Devington Furniture store on 10/98. When I bought it, I was told by the salesmen Stephen that the set has a life time warranty. If anything goes wrong with the frame, Bassett will come and replace it. I bought the set and it started falling apart. I called Stephen in 12/2001 and he told me someone will come to look at it. No one ever came or called.
Since December I have called Devington 20 times. I have recorded the date of each phone call. The answer is someone will call me back. I finally went to the store 9/17/02 and met the manager Jim Shelley. I explained to him the situation and he finally gave me Bassett's consumer help phone number. When I called Bassett and talked to Vanesa, I was told that the warranty is on the parts, not on the labor. I did not even get a warranty card when I bought the set. Stephen said I can use my receipt for any warranty issue.
When I called Jim back, he said that the warranty is on the parts. I told him what Stephen has told me about someone coming to fix it under warranty if there is any problems, he said that is not the case. I told Jim about my intention to report his business to the bad business bureau, he did not seem to care and hang up the phone in my face. When I called back Stephen answered and he repeated that someone from Bassett will come to repair my set. Then he said "or something like that".
The business is a rip off because they do not support the products they sell. They never return customers call and they are rude to the customer who already bought something with no consideration for them to return.
In addition, the furniture quality is very bad. I was scammed into buying the set with the life time warranty in consideration, when I was never told that it will cost me to repair it.
