Diamond Resorts International I realized too late to get a refund after signing the time share agreement Las Vegas Nevada
In March 2012 my family was vacationing on Maui when we were suckered into doing a free activity in return for sitting through a 3-hour time-share presentation. Initially walked but made the mistake of going back for another session and bought a 1/3 share for $11K. Down payment was $3K with payments for 10 years on the remainder. Got back home and did more research, realized I had made a mistake but was 2 days late on my retraction period of 7 days.
From then on refused to respond to the company especially to sign up for monthly withdrawals. They kept calling and sending email messages to which I refused to answer. I engaged a time share exit company who held my hand during the this time of aggression by DRI. The company called every day at least 10 times a day and a few days of up to 25 times a day. During the 6 month period when they tried to not only collect their maintenance fee but the monthly installments. I estimate I got between 2000 and 3000 calls during the 6 months after signing the agreement. To their credit they honored the telemarketer operating times of 8 AM to 9 PM. Some calls were made at 8:01 am and some calls came in at 8:58 PM.
Finally DRI decided that I wasn't worth the time and effort anymore and sent me an exit agreement which I signed and sent back within 3 days only because it had to be notarized. Finally 8 months after making the mistake, I was free. Had I done my research 3 days earlier I would have been much better off financially. The fee paid to the exit company was expensive but worth the cost. Now there are many timeshare exit companies, some honest some not preying on people in dire straits. Who knows maybe some are in leagues with shady operators like Cloobeck. After reading other postings my cost of $6000 CAD is on the low end of what others have experienced. After the initial down payment I immediately cancelled that credit card to prevent any attempt to collect payment by credit card. Anymone reading this just do the research which I did not do in a timely fashion because I didn't suspect that DRI would operate in this fashion and totally roll over objectors.
