I find it funny how everyone on this site, no matter what area of the country, has the exact same things to say about dillards...what does that say? its not in our heads.
1. When you are hired you go through a weeks worth of training to prepare you on how to sell the largest ammounts...customer service all the way. BUT, once your on the floor you are made to ignore your customer service skills in order to keep up after mindblowing ammounts of stock, markdowns, safety meetings, badgering managers, and stupid dresscode checks.
2. Dillards policy is to putt all merchandise on the floor at all times, no backstock ever. well, that is why we look like a mess people, and also why we have such a hard time putting the stock out, fitting it on fixtures and keep up with it on time.
3. I was just informed that we no longer get breaks ( unless autherized for extreem emergencies
4. they changed the policy to three un-excused absences and your fired.
5. you are fired if you arnt within 60% of your work centers (departments) sales average, too bad some of us get shitty hours, bad areas, and bad times of the day or else we could keep up.
6. You are fired if you cant force your non-exhistant customers to purchase. If you dont make your sales you are fired or worse...you keep working for less pary.
7. when they cutt your pay they cutt it lets say from 8.50 p/h to 7.25p/h then if you earn a raise in the next 6 months they only raise your pay to 8.00 p/h. they dont give you an equal raise to your cutt so your still in the dumps.
The unstabiliy of the pay and the job at dillards should actually hurt its emplyees chances at getting bank loans, student loans, renting/ buying houses, adoption children.
we'd be better off on commision.
8. if you work 1 min of over time you get written up ( it was your fault for staying on the clock too long) they dont just give you over time.
9. twice a year we (all employees) are required to do inventory, two days, two nights (all night) of scanning in complete scilence with no bonuses. this includes elderly, pregnant, teens, and parents of small children. no exceptions. coesnt macys hire a special team to do theirs???
10. we women used to be able to wear sweaters to work as our "third" piece, but now that isnt good enough, jacket or no job. its worse then a 4 star resturant! suit jackets are too expensive for what they pay us
11. exactly, when it comes down to it the work they demand does not, DOES NOT!! equal the pay. for $10 per hour I will get on my hands and knees (in my nice $200 suit) to scrubb fixtures...but not for $8.
Thank you!! WE totally need to unionize!! its robbery, its murder, and its wrong.
