Direct Merchants aka WAP ripoff, outlandish ripoff late fees, dishonest ripoffs scottsdale Arizona
This company is dishonest and a ripoff and cares nothing about the consumer. When I became unemployed and called to speak to someone about the situation and to make payment arrangements they were totally unsympathetic and refuse to make payment arrangements with me.
Immediately after I had called to inform them of my situation the harassing phone calls started, it was as if they smelled blood and was going in for the kill. This is exactly how I felt. The treats of increasing fees and negative reports to the credit agencies became a tool they used to make me send them portions of my limited unemployment check, until I decided enough is enough, no matter what I sent them they were still increasing my interest rates and fees.
Because of their outlandish late fees $34/mth and finance chgs 29.99%, my credit balance soon exceeded the credit limit and then began the $34/mth over the limit fee. Now I am being charged around $150/mth in charges for a card that I have not used in a year and a half.
When I tried to make arrangemenst with them my balance was approx.$1900 now it is close to $4000 and that is just accumulated fees, no matter what I send them this balance is never going down because the min payment is around $150/mth.
They sent me a letter saying that this debt was sold to a company called WAP, only to find that WAP is owned by Direct Merchants, What a con. Then 2 weeks later I was sent another letter saying that it was sold to another company that is an affiliate of direct merchants. I refuse to pay for $2000 in bogus ripoff charges. consumer beware of this company
