I am reporting direct tv services for draining every dime i had on my debit card. They took money ro pay final bill on an account that wasnt even in my name. I tried calling customer service to resolve this matter and they were rude and refused to release funds back to me.

Colorado,
Let me guess, you helped out a friend to get the service, less than two years ago...

Now, this "Friend" cancels or fails to pay their bill and didn't even return the equipment, so you got charged hundreds of dollars for your "Friend's" failure to fulfill the two year contract that carries a pro-rated early termination fee.  It's the "friend" you should be taking this up with for stiffing YOU.  DirectTV merely held up the terms of the WRITTEN contract.

No, I DON'T work for DirectTV.

Its unfortunate but this is what happens when someone cancels their service and still owes a ETF. The only reason your card was used is because YOU paid the bill for someone. This means that YOUR card became the default card for collecting any past due amount still owed. You will have to take it up with the person whos bill you paid. THEY are the responsible party and you need to collect from them. It was THEIR choice to cancel their service early sticking YOU with the ETF.

DirecTV was only doing and following what was in the terms of the contract that your freind or relative signed. YOUR name doesnt come up when you are paying a bill. All they get is a string of numbers. So they dont KNOW its your card. As the American Consumer has no problem lying to get their way, the reps you will deal with WILL NOT pay the fact that it is YOUR card. In the future just dont pay someone elses account with YOUR card. Have them mail in a money order if you must pay for it. Or get a prepaid debit card and use that.
