On 28 June, 2009 I ordered ONE STANDARD receiver. The DirecTV installation technician arrived on 30 June, 2009 for installation, he refused to attach a dish to my house where there was an existing dish, and wanted to place it in my front yard, I insisted that if placed in my yard that it be in my back yard where I have more space and line of sight to the horizon in all directions. He refused to install the dish in my back yard and called in to get more options, whoever was on the other end told him what to do, however he didn't know how to do his job so he left. I called customer service to complain and get an experienced technician and supervisor to come out and install the dish. The customer service representative was unwilling to help or answer any questions. She tried to schedule a day on which I had to work, and refused to schedule me at a time that was convenient for me. I was appalled by the lack of customer service and the blatant disregard for my schedule, as well as her expectation for me to take time off work to fix DirecTV's screw up, so I canceled my account instead. I asked to speak with her supervisor, then she became rude. I waited for over 30 minutes for the supervisor, who was also unwilling to help, and expected me to take time off work to fix their problem. If that's how customers are treated before installation I would hate to see how they are treated after receiving service. I filed a complaint with The Better Business Bureau. On 15 July, 2009 a customer service representative called me, and confirmed my complaint but did not address ANY of the issues in the complaint. They then lied and stated that they had addressed all the issues of the complaint. I can see that listening and counting are not common skills at DirecTV, as they were going to install an HD RECEIVER AND standard receiver, I DON'T EVEN OWN A HDTV AND I ONLY HAVE 1 (ONE) (THE NUMBER THAT COMES BEFORE 2.) I went with Dish Network and their service is outstanding, plus they listen to their customers and can count. I don't see how DirecTV stays in business with their HORRIBLE AND RUDE customer NO service. DirecTV took my business and money which was guaranteed to them, and gave it to Dish Network through their incompetence and rude service. Dish Network offered much better service for a lower price.
