Directv has decided not to offer its HD and pay per view movie services when they conflict with the NFL broadcast schedule. They have directly admitted this to us. They say that they need to use their Satellite capacity to provide their football packages, so other customers will not get HD or pay per view movies on Sundays during the regular football schedule. This means that until football season is over customers can't order movies on Sundays. It also means that customers who bought HD boxes to watch football will not be able to do so. This is a significant modification of the deal that DIRECTV offered when we signed up for the service (Sunday afternoon is a prime time for renting movies and not having HD on Sundays denies a major part of the service that caused me to sign with DIRECTV in the first place.) I have proposed that DIRECTV offer a credit to customers who are affected by this. They have not yet responded.

DirecTv only has _one_ HD PPV channel, and may turn off TNT-HD on Sundays. All the other HD channels are there. The other PPV channels are not HD. You say "It also means that customers who bought HD boxes to watch football will not be able to do so." Why do you think they turn off those two HD channels? So people can watch football in HD, that's why. They just added over 30 HD channels in the past two weeks, so why should they credit your account because two lousy channels are turned off? They're too busy laughing to respond.
