Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We live 6 months in florida (cape coral) and 6 months in Italy, Europe, where my husband is from. We signed up for Dishnetwork only after they told me we could put the service on vacation hold for $5.00/ month for up to 6 months. When I called to put the sevice on hold...they told me it was 15.00/ month. When I informed the person I was told %5.00..he said ok..we can split the difference and I will charge you 7.00. (That was my first clue the company is unethical). Also, anytime you want to make a change in programing..they charge you another month in advance..so now I had a total of 2 months paid in advance. When I asked how I would receive the money back in the event of cancellation..no one could really answer me.

We left for Italy and I set up an automatic pay on my credit card for the vacation hold. My father took care of my bills including the credit card while we were in Italy. When I got back a few days ago... I saw I had been charged $80.00 per month for 6 months!!! This is even 10.00 more per month then we had even been paying for the service in the first place!

When I called the company, they said there was no phone record that I had ever put the service on hold. THis was simply not true so I asked for a supervisor, then another, all telling me, "sorry no record of the hold so we cannot credit you." I was furious and called my credit card co. but they do not have enough proof to dispute it. I called DishNetwork back the following day and had a different person and started asking questions about my start date and monthly charges when he says, "and I see on May 1st you called to set up a vacation hold for may 19th."

Bingo. I even got the employee code number of the person who set it up and they were supposed to be charging me $10.00 a month (what happened to 7.00?) So I ask this person why then was I charged over $80.00 instead of $10.00 and I would like a credit. He puts me on hold and get this....says " I am very sorry but my manager informed me that we cannot credit you because for some reason the vacation hold was cancelled, and we do not have any documentation for why it was cancelled..but we can credit you $10.00" I was shocked, appalled, etc etc and asked him to put this info into an email to me immediately.

I never received this info. I could have disputed at least the last 2 months of payment with my credit card company with this email. THIS COMPANY IS DISHONEST UNETHICAL AND FRAGULENT TO SAY THE LEAST. I have since found out that many others have been scamed out of money by DIsh network.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND GO WITH CABLE!!

It seems you gave up too soon with your credit card company. Let the credit card company know that dish network admitted to finding the request and still refused to help you. Your results may be partially or perhaps greatly be dependent upon the credit card company representative you are dealing with. These are people who, with the right words, can fight for your cause. Each time you call the credit card company disputes department, you usually get a different representative. Keep calling until you find someone empathetic or sympathetic enough to your cause and get their direct phone number and extension. Explain to the representative exactly what happened in detail and relate that if 'he' or 'she' helps you, you will write a wonderful letter about how great they were to their superiors. Don't just spout this out, acquire some familiarity first and some sign of empathy and then explain how you will help them if this issue is resolved in your favor. Call back Dish Network and tell them that you will be notifying the Department of Consumer Affairs of your state. If all else fails, you can then direct them to this web site and if they want you to indicate that there was a misunderstanding and the matter was resolved, they should refund your money. Also note that if they don't help you (after they refuse) you will post their NAMES on the web site (get their names first). Look through the complaints on line here, see if anything you read is similar to your situation and relate the info. you mentioned, as well as any other fraudulent promises, etc.. made to your credit card company. If you paid by check, you can still try through the Bank, but it's more difficult this way. Ensure you copy and paste reports similar to yours and fax them over to your credit card company as well.
