Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I had been a Dish Network customer for a couple of years when my, then Fiance and now Husband, decided I had to move to Texas from Oklahoma to be together for job reasons. I called Dish Network and was told there would be a charge for the move but they would tack it on my bill.

I said I thought it was free, but no matter I would pay it. I was told by that customer service that i did not have to take anything with me. So I didn't. I even left my TVs at my house for my daughter.

When I got to Texas they did come install, but my husband only had one TV so they hooked to it and everything was fine. I paid the moving charge and nothing was ever said about the fact that I had a Joey for a TV in a second bedroom in Oklahoma.

When my husband was promoted and transferred to Des Moines Iowa, we had to find a place to rent. The place we found was pre-wired for cable and the landlord had rules against satelite dishes in the lease. So I called Dish Network and told them I was sorry, but I had to cancel and move to a place that I couldn't have their service. They kept insisting that i had to send them the Joey they told me to leave behind.  Eventually charging me another $100 for it.

This was a very unfair practice. They should have charged me for the Joey at the point in time that the install in Texas did not include one. This would have made it possible for me to find the Joey in Oklahoma and sent it back to them.  By the time they told me I was either going to have send them the Joey or pay for it; it was a year later and I could find neither hide nor hair of it in Oklahoma.  It was too late.

They should either tell you to take everything from the inside of your house, or charge you for the pieces that you didn't need at the new place at the time of the move. This gives people a chance to sort things out right then before things disappear.

My advice to everybody is do not mess with them moving your dish. Cancel the service at one address and mail them back the equipment. They do pay the shipping. They send you a postage paid shipping box. After you move, decide what kind of TV you want and order the free install. They all do a free install up front for a new customer. They all get really mean and crappy after they have you. Therefore it is much better to start clean with a new company each time you are required to move.
