If the subscriber in question had a model of reciever that received UHF remote commands then it's 'possible" that a nearby neighbor purchased the PPV movies on thier reciever as well the the person who complained. It could have been something as simple as changing the remote address so that it doesn't interfere with others. I doesn't hurt to also check with a neigher who might have the same system you do.

I worked for Dish as a technician, and also trouble shot the Direct TV units in earlier years. I am familiar with this "so called problem". Simply put the satellite beams all channels to the antenna on your house. Then what you are subscribed to appears on your guide. When you select a PPV item, the system ASKS you not once but twice if you are sure you want to purchase. This is done, by way of software, to avoid ACCIDENTS. In my years of work with these systems I have found that surprisingly ONLY the XXX movies were found to be at question in regard to "mysterious" PPV. You can only purchase a PPV from pointing your remote at the reciever and jogging through the screens. There are also locks and limits the system has that parents can impose. I can't begin to relate to you the number of complaints like Ms. Jones'. Most of the time the culprits are curious teenagers, babysitters, and mostly HUSBANDS. Then the WOMAN of the house gets the bill and to her surprise and disgust sees them posted......My constant rebuttal was "Maam, your key to your car will not start any other car but yours....PPV can ONLY be purchased by YOUR REMOTE at YOUR RECIEVER in YOUR ROOM...Your system has, in menu, a PURCHASE INFO SCREEN, that keeps a constant total of purchases. In all my years with dishnetwork I have never heard of the BILLING department ADDING PPV to accounts. Thus in closing I always suggested to clients to lock their systems with a pass word that only SHE has. In calling back to check, months after, I ALWAYS found the problem corrected. Thanks for your time.
