When I got my puppy in September of 2006 I met Donna in Freeport and was very suprised that my new puppy, who Donna said had a bath the night before, was quite stinky. He had occasional diarrhea from the time I got him... this worsened quickly and within a month he was weak, dehydrated and passing only uncontrollable white mucus- He ended up at the emergency vet overnight. with no clear results after many tests he was sent home on antibiotics. when the meds were done the diarrhea returned...again, vet meds and still sick. Finally we went with the treatment for whip worm, a long course of antibiotics. this finally worked, whip worm can be passed from the mom and has an incubation period of about three months, right around the age he got so extremely sick.

Since then other issues have emerged: He is EXTREMELY bowlegged and his front legs shake after exercise or even sometimes just standing. He also has luxation issues with one of his back legs. He has an extreme underbite, more then normally seen, even in this breed.

When I had contracted Donna about the whip worm she denied any other puppies had been sick and blamed me (though the puppy had never left my site when outdoors and had not had contact with other dogs).

When I contacted her about the orthopedic issues she wanted vet documentation...but, before I could contact her, her web site was down and there was no sign of her online at all....well, except here.

Now a year and a half this guy has been through alot, much more then any dog should have to. I love him dearly and wouldn't trade him for the world at this point. But, that said, I wish I'd done more research. It breaks my heart to read the reports others have written and know that this is where my baby came from and that I supported this woman and what sounds to me like a puppy mill.

I remember on her website Donna had said that she did not sell to breeders- But when I picked up my puppy in Freeport, there was a woman there who got a yorkie from donna and identified herself very openly as a breeder.

Donna, I appreciate your response and a the insight into why things may have been more difficult to balence in recent years. Though its not an excuse, it actually makes me feel tons better about where my dog came from etc.as does the information that your other dogs did get treated following my email about the whip worm. I did send you the vet letter, just as an fyi. I hadn't sent it earlier as your site was down and I did not expect Id get a response, perhaps i was wrong. Im not unhappy with the dog and love him despite what I've been through with him. I was just put off by the tone of responses I got from you.

I am responding to your allegations, your puppy was infact bathed the nite before he left here. Did you ever take into consideration that the pup pooped on the way there ? The whip worms: the puppy was wormed prior to leaving. Never did I "blame" you. Yes I did ask if the pup had been exposed to other dogs, simple question. You will be happy to know that after you told me about the whip worms, all the dogs we HAD were treated. Whip worms are not uncommon in dogs. Now as far as the "bow" legs. You called , and I asked you, had he been examined by a vet for this condtion, then I asked you to send me a copy of the vet report, you already had our mailing address, we never received any vet documentation from you. You will be happy to know we are no longer breeding , by CHOICE I might add. We had raised dogs for over 30 yrs. Never had any issues and have sold to many, including REPEAT clients and by referrals. The last two years I had to spend ALOT of time away from home due to my ailing mother, I left someone in charge whom I thought knew what they were doing. Sadly, not so, so consequently things went askew to say the least. My mind was not where it should of been, as was totally consumed with other issues. Is that an excuse ?? NOO, not at all. Your puppy did NOT come from a puppy mill. Believe what you want there is nothing I can say or do about that. Only that I am sorry that you are so unhappy. Again, have a party, we are no longer breeding !
