I too, am a victim of the Drive Financial and Santander Consumer scandal.  I financed an 02 Toyota Camry through this company.  There was never anything saying that I would have to pay $10.95 in order to send a payment via website, phone, or mail each month.  The car was financed for a total of $14,700. I have made over 33 monthly payments at $387 a month.  I have paid well over $12,000 in payments but my statement from this Company shows that I still owe over $9500.00 for this car. This is unbelievable!!!!  I don't know how a company like this has continued to exist and rip hard working people like myself off for so long. Will some attorney please look deeply into this and help us hard working people bring this company down help to make this right.  If you search under Drive Financial and Santander you will see that there a mass of people who have been negatively affected by this company.  If there are any victims of this company that are going to file a class action lawsuit, please contact me.

I have a question for you...I one day decided to refinanced my car to get a lower interest rate which was not bad in the beginning and no I don't or have I ever had bad credit I was stricken with Breast Cancer and was on disability so I figured I would need to get my monthly payments down even further if I could so I decided to go ahead and see if I could get my interest rate lowered even more and was given lower rates by several companies, banks included. Road Loans was the lowest by .5% so I chose Road Loans seeing that made the difference of what the others was offering and my payment would be $25 less a than what the others was offering which at the time was a big deal. So why is it after 4 years I still owe over $9000 on this loan original balance that was left on my car was $15,900. Is the $9000 their magical number lets keep the consumers even after 4 or 5 years of payments at the $9000 mark. I didn't have bad credit in the first place I financed a car from a new car dealership at a very good interest rate but due to my unfortunate illness what ever or were ever I could lower in montly payments I did, which included refinancing so are you going to use that logic that we the consumers are the ones at fault because of a credit situation. Hmm my credit just brought me a house and all my payments to road loans aka Traid aka Santander was made on time even during my illness so what are you going to say about us consumers now what defense do you have for them now cheating people out of their hard earn money. I call it scandilous, outrages, and just down right wrong. I had to stop them from taken money out my account well before it's due date because they was taken out 2 payments in 1 month which caused my account to go into overdraft who's fault was that...oh wait mine because I allow them access to my account..hmmm Well Ms. Tamara if it helps you sleep at night by telling yourself it's the consumers fault and they only do this to people you feel deserve it because of their credit situation which you know nothing about why they got that way than by all means but know one thing Ms. Tamara  Road Loans, Triad Financial and Santander are ripping off people that don't even fit under your catagory of having bad credit as you so lightly put it they are ripping off everyone, bad credit, good credit and all they are wrong!! And to all the victims of these companies continue to file your complaints, continue to start your class action laws suits..because you are all just that a victim and that alone has nothing to do with what your credit score or reports look like a victim is a victim so don't let all the Tamara's out here tell you you're wrong because that's like telling all the parents of children that was killed in drive by shootings it's was their fault because of the neighborhood they live in..PLEASE!! A circumstance shouldn't allow a company to rip you off simple as that!!!!

Isn't interesting how too many subprime borrowers are also subprime thinkers?  Worse yet, rather than change their ways and become a prime borrower...well you know the story.

Subprime thinking...

"They owe me a car.  It wasn't my fault I have bad credit."

"They should allow me to skip payments when I'm out of a job."

"They should allow me to skip payments when I'm "sick."

"Its not my fault I have bad credit!  They prey on the unfortunate."

"I can't understand why they repo'ed my car.  I was only 31 days late."

"They keep calling me when I'm only 2 days late."

"We need to start a class action suit!  They should be more understanding."

"I can't understand why I have overdraft fees!  No, yes I do.  The big banks have it in for us little people."

Tamara, your response was terrific!  It was perfect!

Ok first off I happen to work for this company. Having been financed through Santander in the first place means you are a sub prime consumer, meaning you have bad credit. Which would in turn mean you are financed at a high interest rate. Plus if you pay late every month as most of our customers do, you are going to have more money from payments going to pay interest that compounds DAILY rather than principal. It's called a simple interest loan.

And as far as the $10.95 fee to make a online or over the phone payment, that would have been included in the welcome packet you recieved when you were welcomed as a new customer, had you actually read it you would have known about the fees. However mailing a payment is FREE.

I advise you to review your contract and educate yourself on the terms of your loan before you bash the company who was so kind as to LOAN you MONEY even though you have probably defaulted on other things as such in the past.

Why would you use this company?

So why would you use this company and pay such a high interest rate?  Probably because your credit is trashed.  That means that YOU are the one who RIPPED OFF all the lenders that YOU didn't pay.  Paying high interest rates like that is THE PRICE YOU PAY for cheating lenders!  You think you are a victim but did you ever stop to wonder WHY no one is willing to give you a car loan at a reasonable interest rate - and how you may have caused that???

Why is it unbelievable?   What is the term of your loan and interest rate?   Places like this charge high interest because their customers generally have bad credit or no credit.   On a loan like this, most of the payment in the early term goes to pay off the high interest.   The principal doesn't start going down until later in the term.

Using a loan calculator if you borrowed $14.7K for 60 months at 20%, your balance would be in that neighborhood after 33 months.

Paying ridiculously high interest over a long term for a used car is not a financially wise move, but it's what you signed up for.

I tell friends that if they have to go to a place like that to buy a car, they can't afford it in the first place.
