Dr. Izquierdo performed a primary rhinoplasty on me.  During our consultations he heard exactly what I desired for my final outcome, I expressed how I wanted only the tip of my nose defined.  Nothing more, nothing less.  He repeated back to me everything that I requested & promised a very subtle result.  He promised that I would be able to retain the "ethnicity" of my nose.

After the surgery I was unrecognizable.  He removed the cast & handed me a mirror.  I was in the middle of a sentence when he abruptly walked out of the room.  I never heard from him again.

The results were not what we had discussed.  He disregarded our consultation & decided to do "his own thing" in the operating room.  He broke my nose & I was unable to breathe.  I would often wake up choking because I began to snore from my broken nose.  I ended up with a saddle nose deformity.  He narrowed my nostrils & I have visible stitch marks on both sides.

He also shortened my nose to roughly half of its size.  To say I am disappointed would be an understatement.
It has been a traumatizing 2 years for me.  I have since had a revision rhinoplasty with a professional & ethical plastic surgeon.  He used an implant & also my own bone to reconstruct the bridge of my nose.  He also used grafts to lengthen my nostrils.  I am now able to breathe & slowly recovering.

My hope is that Dr.Izquierdo reads this comment & ceases to perform rhinoplasty.  Doc-you made a promise that you couldn't deliver.  You stole my beauty & I have forgiven you. Please stop butchering.  God forgive you.

It doesn't bother me that Dr.Izquierdo does not like my report.  I'm posting on this website to make the public aware of my experience at his office.  I'm not making false allegations or inflammatory statements, simply telling the truth.  He can review his database all he wants to try & disprove that he worked on me.  I simply lived in another city at the time of my operation & have since moved.  If you're wanting to have a rhinoplasty procedure done, go to a surgeon that specializes in rhinoplasty.  They should have no problem providing RECENT pictures of their work-either in their office or on their website.  The office should schedule follow up appts to remove the bandages & atleast another appt to take a picture of the final result. Looking back now I see all of the red flags.  He offered me a discount on his work, he made me sign a waiver that he was not responsible for anything he did wrong in the operating room & the office never made an appt with me to follow up after taking the bandages off.

I hope I helped someone by posting this report.  Unfortunately for the other patient,  I wish I would've done it sooner =(

God bless. N.

These allegations by N are false. I have always listened to what concerns a patient and focused on the best way to achieve the result.  In medical practice, doctors understand that there can be no promises regarding outcomes, and I have always abided by this principle and have not, and cannot, guarantee a specific result.  However, when dealing with an ethnic nose, tip definition alone may make the nose look odd.Think wide nose, big hump, small tip.  It would look un-natural if all the parts of the nose did not fit each other.  I clearly describe this issue with every patient for rhinoplasty.  Plastic surgeons strive to produce a pleasing balanced nose, which will, in most cases, require some modification of these three parameters to have a natural outcome that fits the face and its ethnicity.  Shortening a nose to roughly half of its size is not a consideration for any rhinoplasty.

I have NEVER walked out of a patients room during a consultation or followup visit, and I certainly would never abandon a patient as is stated in this document.

Breaking the nasal bones does not cause difficulty breathing, since the actual air flow is below this level.

I have never had a rhinoplasty patient that I did not follow up for at least one year; and during this time period I would have noticed a saddle nose deformity, which has never occurred in my practice.

In reviewing my patient database for the last 23 years, there is no patient whose first or last name started with N from Rochelle, Illinois who I have operated on for a rhinoplasty.

My door is always open to all my patients to return.  However, without any proper identification of this patient, I cannot verify nor accept this review in light of the inaccurate, false, and inflammatory statements made.
