Scam Customer Survey pops up while browsing various sites including Amazon. Promises a free gift if you will fill out the short customer survey (3 questions). After submitting survey answers, you are taken to a site which says that you may choose one product from the three shown, and you will receive that product for free if you will just pay shipping.

You must input your credit card information in order to pay the shipping costs.

The three products offered on one of these offers were 1) Duvati Sunglasses, 2) Aura Vie skincare products, and 3) some sort of e-cigarette offer. I chose the Duvati Sunglasses and hit the order button.

Nowhere do I remember seeing the fact that this was a limited time free trial, and that I would have to cancel within 14 days or I would be signed up for ongoing periodic shipments which would be charged at retail price to my credit card. The web page confirming that my order had been placed made no mention of this detail either, plus is contained only a web address ducatiwear.com and no phone number. I can provide an .xps printout of this confirmation if needed.

The order shipping cost of 7.99 was billed to my credit card and sunglasses were shipped. My wife received them. I merely told her that I had filled out an offer on the web and that all I had to do was pay shipping.

About a month later, my wife received another set of sunglasses, which seemed odd to me. I researched my credit card transactions and found that Duvati wear had charged an additional 49.99 to my card about a month after the first order. Fortunately I was able to get a phone number for Duvatiwear off my credit card transaction detail.

I called and was answered by "Thank you for calling Customer Service", but they did not say who they were representing. The man who answered was named Peter, and after defending Duvatiwear's position that I had to have signed off on the ongoing terms or they would not have shipped the first pair, he said that he would accept my cancellation of this agreement. I could not return the second pair of sunglasses because my wife had thrown the packaging out. We agreed that they would cancel my account, that I would not be shipped any more products, nor would I be billed for any further charges. I did receive a Cancellation Confirmation number.

So we have a second pair of sunglasses which cost 49.99 and which we did not actively order. I believe the entire "customer survey" deal is a scam, and that the information I filled out was done so based on fraudulent or hidden activity on the part of the offerer.

Finally, I want to say that this "customer survey" owner, whoever it is, is the party actually at fault. I had the exact same experience with AuraVie Skincare based on the same "survey" on another web site. I do not even know if the parties who own the web sites which cause the popup are even aware that someone is making what appears to be a fraudulent offer based on their good names.
