On January 6th my boyfriend and I dropped my 93 Ford Explorer off at Earl's Auto Service for a front end problem and for them to check 4 wheel drive to determine why it would not engage.

They informed us it was ready to be picked up on January 13th. It was a total of 508.00 to repack wheel bearings replace ball joints, front suspension arm replacement and a Universal joint.

The kicker was they charged 56.00 for front break pads. The pads they put on are 6.00 pads and the rotors should have been replaced. They are so bad the break pads will need to be replaced again.

The 4 wheel drive transfer unit they took a ballpeen HAMMER to it, breaking the inside and wanted to charge $500.00 more to install a new one. They told me the part was 250.00. It take a total of 10 minutes to install and the part was only 150.00.

When I told them what my other mechanic found they admitted to hitting it with the hammer and told me on the phone they would give me the part. I am disabled and it's hard for me to get out on some days so I sent my boyfriend in to pick it up. When he got there they told him that we would have to pay for the part and they would install it for free.

Well, I picked the part up for 150.00 and had my mechanic install it and took the broken one to Earl's to show them and collect my 150.00. The wires were toast not the part. Due to them hitting it with the hammer they broke the inside and I showed them that.

Needless to say they refused to give me the cost of the part. With all the grace from inside me I nicely told them I will report them to the Better Bussiness Bureau, tell everyone I know not to use them, and write everyone on the internet I could come up with!

Just because I may wear a skirt is no reason for them to try to pull anything over me. I use to fix all my own cars before I injuried my back. Even if they afford me half the amount I paid for the part I would have felt better. But their total lack of wanting to take responsabilty is horrable. Talk about trying to take advantage of a women, but a handicaped one to boot!
